3-4 "From the Vault,"  "1984" by George Orwell Part 7 of  13
This week on From the Vault, continuing one of the most important dystopian novels written in modern history, George Orwell's classic ‘Nineteen Eighty-Four.’
The entire book was read on-air by longtime Pacifica morning show host Charles Morgan in 1975. Morgan was joined by legendary voiceover artist June Foray, widely known for her work in Disney and Warner Brothers animated productions - in particular as the voice of Rocky in the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon. This week we present part of this thirteen-part quintessential Pacifica recording.
From the Vault is presented as part of the Pacifica Radio Archives Preservation and Access Project, funded in part by an award from the GRAMMY Foundation and the National Historical Publications and Records Commission at the National Archives and Records Administration, and past grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Ford Foundation, and the American Archive funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, along with the generous support of Pacifica Radio Listeners. We also thank our partners and collaborators at the Pop-Up Archive, Amara, Other Minds Archives, George Blood Audio, and the California Audio Visual Preservation Project.  Reading produced by Paul Vangelisti.  ‘From the Vault’  Produced by Mark Torres.

12-12:30 Vaccine Update

12:30-1:30 "Self Healing: An Interview with Norman Cousins
Former editor of "The Saturday Review", Norman Cousins (1915-1990) rocked the world of medicine as he healed himself from a rare disease with the power of the mind, keeping himself in a confident and positive attitude mentally and spiritually, aided by comedy fiilms and a supportive environment (a la Carl Simonton). He got a position at the UCLA Medical School and wrote a book on the subject, "Anatomy of an Illness" which was severely criticized by conventional medicine as the idea of using diet to treat disease used to be panned as classical quackery.
A classic film shown yearly at the Cancer Control Society.
