Future of Public Banking – Professor Richard Wolff just finished another book. The sub-title is: “When Capitalism Fails to Save Us from Pandemics or Itself.” Longtime critic of the private for profit banking system, Ellen Brown, campaigns to return control of money and credit to states, cities, and communities. She invited Richard Wolff to a an interview on Zoom on December 17, 2020. The 30 minute conversation is archived on the YouTube channel of The Public Banking Institute, founded in 2011 by Ellen Brown.
She is an attorney and author of 12 books, among them “Web of Debt” and “The Public Bank Solution”. Here she traces the history and evolution of the current private banking system, showing how it took the power to create money away from the public, and how the people can take that power back through public banks that operate in the public interest.
Richard Wolff is Professor of Economics Emeritus at U Mass, Amherst, and a Visiting Professor at the New School University in New York City. He’s the founder of Democracy at Work and host of their nationally syndicated show Economic Update.

Does Public Banking Work – Project Censored named The Public Banking Revolution one of the top 25 most censored stories of 2020. The independent media pointed out that a public banking system on a national scale could finance the Green New Deal, as Roosevelt’s Reconstruction Finance Corporation did. A state or city based Public Bank can keep money local and fund projects like affordable housing and infrastructure without concern for maximizing profits or shareholder returns. A living example for such a bank already exists for 100 years in the Bank of North Dakota.
Economist Richard Wolff appreciated Gov. Gavin Newsom’s approval of a bill allowing local governments in California to establish public banks. Wolff said if people only knew how public banking works they would campaign to get them established.

Gary then recounts the suppression of his biography and replacement of total untruths and ignorance, in one major tale referring to him as an ‘AIDS denialist’ and suppressing the completely and extremely detailed scientific fact that he found a non toxic cure which seroconverted 8 patients - without the deadly poison which was used to treat AIDS. He worked with thousands of AIDS sufferers over the years (with no charge) and yet has been accused as an AIDS denialist on the internet and unfortunately shared on KPFK and KPFA where a broadcast with him was not aired on KPFA just as the California legislature was debating a mandatory flu shot for all children and blocking medical and religious defenses (which passed). On KPFK the anti-Gary mythologies were aired without giving him a chance to respond. (until the time he left his KPFK broadcasts, he was by far the most successful fundraiser in our history and in the 6-7 years since he stopped broadcast fundraising, we have made goal without going overtime ONCE in a short drive. Hence a major reason for our increased and normally unsuccessful fund drives. He has allowed me to broadcast his shows on “Something’s Happening!” because of a trusted 30+ year of good (and fair) professional relationship. At the same time this commentary reveals the frightful control that big Pharma has controlled the media for decades through lies and suppressions.

Beginning with discussion of rising distrust of China, the program notes the role in that rising distrust of the coronavirus. First detected in China, the available evidence chronicled in numerous programs points to the Covid-19 pandemic as a biological warfare false flag operation and provocation--part of the Full Court Press against China.
The bulk of the program consists of Mr. Emory reading articles from The New York Times published over the course of the lockdown in the U.S. Highlighting the stress experienced by various population groups and the behavioral and physiological symptoms stemming from that stress, the articles--covering a period from the spring through fall of 2020--document the manifestations of the "bio-psy-op apocalypse.”
The articles chronicle: Stress on marital relationships; duress on sexual behavior, with New York and Los Angeles (among other cities) advising people to masturbate, rather than engage in sexual encounters with others; psychological dislocation of children, who can't play with others; psychological dislocation of athletic youths, who can't compete in sports; workers who can't interact at the office with their peers; stress on friendships; people losing their hair in clumps, because of stress; people grinding their teeth and cracking them; the effect of people wearing masks and limiting the ability of others to respond to facial stimuli--an innate and important element of human psycho-social behavior; cities experiencing soaring murder rates because of stress; the effect of lockdowns on street demonstrations pursuant to the deaths of George Floyd and Breanna Taylor; rising rates of domestic violence; rising consumption of alcohol; rising incidence of people feeling suicidal; rising drug abuse; people foregoing wearing masks and practicing social distancing because of what psychologists call "Covid Fatigue;" people flocking to contrarians opposing various public safety measures; people expressing support for political leaders because of feelings of insecurity. . . .

We conclude with a look at the past, which may reflect on the future.

Naomi Wolf: We’ve Reached ‘Step Ten’ of the 10 Steps to Fascism
In 2008, I wrote a book, “The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot.” In it I warned, based on my study of closing democracies in 20th century history, that America needed to beware of an all-too-possible slide into totalitarianism.
I warned that would-be tyrants, whether they are on the left or the right, always use a map to close down democracies, and that they always take the same ten steps.
Whether they “Invoke an External and Internal Threat” or “Develop a Paramilitary Force” or “Restrict the Press” or the final step, “Subvert the Rule of Law, these steps are always recognizable — and they always work to crush democracies and establish tyrannies. At the time that I wrote the book, the “global threat” of terrorism was the specter that powers invoked in order to attack our freedoms.
The book was widely read and discussed, both at the time of its publication and over the last 12 years. Periodically over the last decade, people would ask me when and if we had reached “Step Ten.”
We — my brave publisher, Chelsea Green, and I — are releasing videos of me reading the first and last chapters (see videos below) of “The End of America” now, in 2021, for free. And I am calling the sequel to this book, which I am now writing, “Step Ten” — because as of March of last year, we have indeed, I am so sad to say, arrived at and begun to inhabit “Step Ten” of the 10 steps to fascism.
Though in 2008, I did not explicitly foresee that a medical pandemic would be the vehicle for moving the entire globe into “Step Ten,” I have at various points warned of the dangers of medical crises as vehicles that tyranny can exploit to justify suppressions of civil rights.
Today, a much-hyped medical crisis has taken on the role of being used as a pretext to strip us all of core freedoms, that fears of terrorism did not, despite 20 years of effort, ultimately achieve.
In 2015, I was widely mocked in mainstream news outlets for warning about the hysteria that accompanied Ebola reporting, and I cautioned then that infectious diseases could be used as a justification for ushering in the suppression of liberties, always under the guise of emergency measures.
In 2020, I showed in my book, “Outrages: Sex, Censorship and the Criminalization of Love,” how infectious disease epidemics, such as cholera and typhus, had been exploited in the 19th century by the British state in order to crush freedoms and invade people’s privacy. I wrote about how the first anti-vaccination movements arose among British parents in the Victorian period.
That book was initially cancelled, and its message of warning continues to be assailed. But that book, too, was prescient: In early March of 2020, of course, a global pandemic was announced — COVID-19.
In the immediate wake of the announcement and narrativization of that pandemic, most of the elements of a locked-in, 360-degree totalitarianism have been put into place in most of the countries of the West, including in what had been robust democracies. It all happened very quickly and comprehensively.
