1-2 Cornel West ‘’The Socratic/Prophetic Traditions’’

Recorded in Missoula, MT on August 28, 2019.

“How do you straighten your back up? How do you tell the truth? How do you bear witness? How do you organize? How do you mobilize? How do you generate forms of resistance and resiliency in the face of some very, very ugly forms of terror and trauma and stigma?” Activist/Scholar Cornel West asks these fundamental questions. And he takes inspiration and guidance from the prophetic tradition of ideas and images that have historically helped oppressed people develop the will and the means for taking action against their oppressors. Wedding that tradition with the Socratic legacy of Ancient Greece of seeking the truth by challenging assumptions and raising the most difficult questions is a powerful formula for achieving freedom and emancipation.

Cornel West is Professor of the Practice of Public Philosophy at Harvard. He has been called “the preeminent African American intellectual of his generation.” With his preacher-like cadences and passionate delivery, he is much in demand as a speaker. Among his many books are ''Race Matters,'' ''The Rich and the Rest of Us,'' and ''Black Prophetic Fire.''

2-3 "California Burning" Part 1

A 5-part series deeply exploring of the California wildfire problem. Public Radio Veteran, Matt Fidler, combines on-location interviews with experts who understand wildfire the best, and NPR-style story telling to give listeners a non-political perspective on how to best approach a problem that is becoming increasingly destructive and deadly.

Natural disasters are increasing across the nation. In the West, these disasters often come in the form of wildfire, and perhaps no State understands the true cost of wildfire as California. While the Golden State has always had forest fires, these conflagrations are progressively becoming harder to control and more deadly. At the same time, California’s population has surpassed 40 million, pushing people further into wild spaces that have been adapted to fire. California Burning takes a deep and critical look at how the states fire-prone forests have been managed, and how we can all learn from the past to be better stewards of the land and avoid catastrophic wildfires in the future.

On the first episode of California Burning, we explore the history of the Forestry Department, and how a series of unprecedented wildfires lead to policies that have made our forests ripe for even more catastrophic fires. Forest historians Steven Pyne and Char Miller tell the story.

On this episode we also hear from Smokey Bear Biographer James Lewis to learn about the rich history of the most effective advertising campaign in American History and how the effectiveness of that campaign led to a deep misunderstanding of fire ecology. Produced in 2019.

TUESDAY NIGHT, AUGUST 25

12-1 Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. at 5G Press Conference CHD v. FCC

JULY 31, 2020 - "Children's Health Defense Holds Press Conference on Evidentiary Brief Submission in CHD V. FCC Lawsuit"

CHD’s commitment to stopping the harmful exposure of our children to 5G and wireless radiation continues with unprecedented litigation against the FCC. The illuminating press conference on this action was held the day after CHD filed its evidentiary brief in its landmark case. The brief was filed jointly with the Environmental Health Trust.

The case itself challenges the FCC’s refusal to review its 25-year-old obsolete wireless “health guidelines”and to promulgate scientific, human evidence-based radio frequency emissions (“RF”) rules that adequately protect public health. The FCC’s false “health guidelines” have enabled the uncontrolled proliferation of harmful wireless technology and more recently, the deployment of dangerous 5G installations.

CHD’s lawsuit asserts that the FCC’s refusal to update these guidelines despite the submission of overwhelming evidence of harm from wireless technology radiation, is capricious, arbitrary, not evidence based, and an abuse of its discretion. The success of our case will be a game changer in the battle to stop Big Tech from further damaging children and all life.

This evidentiary brief is the main submission in our case and provides the evidence upon which the petitioners rely. It cites thousands of studies, including those conducted by U.S. government agencies, and numerous reports that show clear evidence of harm. It also outlines scientifically the established mechanisms of harm from wireless radiation. Additionally, the brief shines a light on the human evidence of widespread sickness, which the FCC ignored when it egregiously closed its docket on the issue on Dec. 4 2019.

This illuminating and celebratory press conference was held the day after CHD filed its brief .

Speakers included: Robert F. Kennedy Jr., CHD Chairman; Dafna Tachover, Esq. MBA, CHD’s Director of 5G & Wireless Harms Project; Scott McCollough, Esq., CHD’s attorney; and David Carpenter, M.D., a Petitioner in the case; as well as parents who submitted affidavits in the case describing their children’s injuries and death from wireless radiation.

Sign up for free news and updates from Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and the Children’s Health Defense. CHD is implementing many strategies, including legal, in an effort to defend the health of our children and obtain justice for those already injured. Your support is essential to CHD’s successful mission.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT, AUGUST 26

12-1 Dave Emory, ''For the Record #1140 - Deep Politics and the Death of Park Won-Soon, Part 1,''

⋅ JULY 29, 2020 ⋅

The first of three programs dealing with the suspicious death of Seoul (South Korea) mayor and prospective presidential candidate Park Won-soon, this broadcast chronicles the many powerful political interests whose feathers were ruffled by his activities. In addition, Park Won-soon was a trailblazer for several different aspects of progressive politics.

In the series, we present key aspects of the Japanese conquest and colonization of Asia, including and especially Korea. This history is fundamental to a serious understanding of Asian power politics. Significantly, with the incorporation of the spectacular wealth of the Japanese Golden Lily loot into the American and global financial systems, the U.S. “signed off” on Japanese war crimes committed prior to, and during, World War II. This history will be presented in greater detail in the second and third programs in the series.

(FTR #‘s 427, 428, 446, 451, 501, 688, 689, 1106, 1107 & 1108 deal with the subject of the Golden Lily program successfully implemented by the Japanese to loot Asia.)

With Park Won-soon being a possible presidential candidate in 2022, there are a number of aspects of his political history and agenda that would have made him the target of the deep political forces stemming from Golden Lily and before: …

1-2 Alfred McCoy ‘’United States of Surveillance’’

Program #MCCA005. Recorded in Seattle, WA on April 23, 2010.

The telescreens in Orwell’s “1984” monitoring Winston Smith are crude devices compared to 21st century technology but they make the point. Big Brother is watching your every move. Today, the weapons of surveillance in the hands of state agencies have grown enormously in scope and sophistication. Basic rights are in jeopardy. Invasions of privacy such as warrantless wiretapping, intercepting cell phone messages and reading email are increasing. When those electronic interventions don’t work there are always the old reliable agent provocateurs, framing and planting of evidence. In fighting the so-called war on terror, surveillance is one of the biggest growth industries in the United States. There are always new threats. Turn the cameras on and your liberties off.

Alfred McCoy is professor of history at the University of Wisconsin. He is the author of the classic The Politics of Heroin: CIA Complicity in the Global Drug Trade. He is the recipient the Association of Asian Studies’ Kahin Prize. He is also the author of Policing America’s Empire, Torture and Impunity and In the Shadows of the American Century: The Rise and Decline of U.S. Global Power.
