BEHIND THE SCENES
Our next fund drive - a more 'noisy' one will begin on July 28 and run for about 3 weeks - or reach vital goal
of $500,000 to end a successful fiscal year...
'Fund Drive Programming' means that times of broadcast, when indicated, are to be loosely understood.  If we get a response, we will happily go to more programming; if the phones are dark, we will work harder to contribute to the station's health and demonstrate the value of night people's programming.  (818) 985-5735www.kpfk.org   (where there ARE some gifts listed)

MONDAY NIGHT, JULY 27

12-1 Danny Sheehan & Sara Nelson "Project Update"   (July 17, 2020)
The 'Tatanka's Living Room' series has evidently changed its name to 'Quarantine Talks' - probably based on an unexpected length of time that UC Santa Cruz will not be open for classes and because Danny was outside.

The 'Project' or projects are to heal the environment and make sure the next government is progressive as possible.  The Dakota Access and Keystone XL pipelines are under orders to cease and desist by August 5 and these have been emphasized in the latest court decisions.  It would be expected that the oil companies would run to the Supreme Court but it are closed for the season.

Sara Nelson describes the next projects which involve finishing the planning of the Green New Deal to stop and reverse global warming, starting in California where our governor is still backing fracking.  What will be needed is cooperation with four elements to heal the land as a healthy living soil soaks up carbon - and can grow good food and make good jobs and eschew poisons from being part of the process.  This will involve working with business. farming, power, and other segments of our economy.

Then Danny describes the process of making sure that the Democratic Party becomes progressive, or more progressive than the central committee is now,  so the new government can support life and health (and survival) and to make plans for the presidential election of 2024 when the Democratic Presidential Candidate will most probably be open.  Work is needed -  www.romeroinstitute.org

This talk will be rebroadcast at 5am for the wake-up audience.

1-2 Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, ‘’The Power of Social Movements’’
Recorded in Seattle, WA on September 5, 2019.
One of the techniques of ruling class control is to isolate people from one another. “Look out for yourself,” is the constant drumbeat. We are reduced to self-centered consumers not engaged citizens. Saul Alinsky suggests a different path. In his 'Rules for Radicals' he said, “Change comes from power, and power comes from organization. In order to act, people must get together.” And that is happening. Popular movements such as Black Lives Matter, #MeToo, Extinction Rebellion and Sunrise are shaking up the establishment. Finding kindred spirits and working collectively with allies not only has broader positive political consequences but helps to overcome negativity and feelings of loneliness and despair. You look in the mirror and you feel good about yourself. History has shown social movements can have a huge societal impact.

Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor is an assistant professor in the Department of African American Studies at Princeton University. Her articles appear in The New York Times, CounterPunch, Jacobin and The Guardian. She is the author of 'From Black Lives Matter to Black Liberation.'

FUND DRIVE SCHEDULE

12-1 Vaccine Debate: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. v. Alan Dershowitz
An historic debate between Children’s Health Defense Chairman Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz, July 23, 2020.

With the current COVID crisis dominating headlines at national and local levels, the topic of vaccines is now front and center. The two attorneys debate a range of issues including vaccine mandates, the PREP Act, the lack of vaccine safety studies, Jacobson vs. Massachusetts, and HHS’s failure to act on provisions of the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act. Are compulsory vaccines even legal? Should any government be able to force medical procedures on families?
An insightful discussion that no one contemplating vaccine safety should miss.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT, JULY 29
FUND DRIVE SCHEDULE

12-1 Dave Emory, ''For the Record #1136 - Lyme Disease and Biological Warfare, Part 2''
A recent book about Lyme Disease sets forth credible information that the disease is an outgrowth of U.S. biological warfare research.

Bitten, 'The Secret History of Lyme Disease and Biological Weapons' chronicles the career of Willy Burgdorfer, a Swiss-born expert on tick and flea-borne diseases who spent most of his career researching those areas as a U.S. biological warfare scientist.
” . . . . if Willy’s claim was true, a crime against humanity had been committed by the U.S. government, and then covered up. . . ” “Bitten,” p. 103.

Listeners are emphatically encouraged to purchase and read this book, as well as sharing it with others.
Author Kris Newby presents substantive evidence that the disease stems from BW research done by Burgdorfer and associates. (Burgdorfer was the scientist who “discovered” the organism that causes Lyme Disease.)

NB: The material in this broadcast is deliberately overlapped with that in the last program…

The Borrelia genus has long been researched as a biological warfare vector.

” . . . . The Borrelia genus of bacteria, which encompasses the Borrelia burgdorferi species-group (to which Lyme disease is attributed), was studied by the infamous WW2 Japanese biowar Unit 731, who carried out horrific experiments on prisoners in Manchuria, including dissection of live human beings. [iii] Unit 731 also worked on a number of other tick-borne pathogens. . . . . borrelia were known for their ability to adopt different forms under conditions of stress (such as exposure to antibiotics). Shedding their outer wall, (which is the target of penicillin and related drugs), they could ward off attack and continue to exist in the body. . . .”

Note that Unit 731 personnel and their files were put to work for the United States after World War II, much like the Project Paperclip scientists from Germany.
