Ridd was fired from James Cook University in May 2018 for allegedly breaching his employment's code of conduct.

For the past 40 years, one of the most prominent and important voices for the mind-body medical movement has been Dr. Deepak Chopra. Aside from his prolific publishing career with over 80 books and a couple dozen best sellers, he has also remained a scientist conducting original clinical research and publishing in peer-reviewed medical journals his efforts to validate the scientific evidence that the mind can influence the body and vice versa. Chopra was not the first to propose such a theory. Earlier William James in the late nineteenth century promulgated the importance of subjective experience to understand the power of consciousness. This trajectory continued through Harvard's Herbert Benson's investigations into the benefits of meditation to reduce stress responses and later Stanford neurosurgeon and psychiatrist Karl Pribram's holonomic brain theory developed with quantum physicist David Bohm. These pioneers were awakening the scientific community to the principles that would become psycho-neuroimmunology, which showed what a person feels and thinks can have a direct impact upon the body for better or worse. Chopra, a board-certified endocrinologist has likewise contributed to this body of science through his work with Transcendental Meditation and Indian Ayurveda medicine.

FTR #1082 Funky Resumes: Update on Socialists for Trump and Hitler ("The Assistance")
In this program, we highlight the disconcerting CV's of Saikat Chakrabarti, Cenk Uygur, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, as well as PACs and related entities created by Chakrabarti and underpinning AOC. Chakrabarti appears to be a political acolyte of Subhas Chandra Bose, "The Duce of Bengal." In a YouTube segment defending AOC against criticism, the recently resigned Chakrabarti sported a T-shirt featuring the likeness of that key Indian fascist.
"Subhas Chandra" Chakrabarti ignited the war within the Democratic Party that he had intended. Noteworthy in his "funky resume" is the fact that he worked for Bridgewater Associates, the world's largest hedge fund. James Comey was the firm's chief legal counsel, before moving to head the FBI. His reopening of the Hillary Clinton e-mail "non-scandal" just before election day helped give Trump the victory.
Following his resignation this past week, "Subhas Chandra" Chakrabarti is now under investigation for his campaign finance activities: " . . . The inquiry centers on two political action committees founded by Saikat Chakrabarti . . . . The two PACs being probed, Brand New Congress and Justice Democrats, were both set up by Chakrabarti to support progressive candidates across the country. . . . But they funneled more than $1 million in political donations into two private companies that Chakrabarti also incorporated and controlled, according to Federal Election Commission filings and a complaint filed in March with the regulatory agency. In 2016 and 2017, the PACs raised about $3.3 million, mostly from small donors. A third of the cash was transferred to two private companies whose names are similar to one of the PACs - Brand New Congress LLC and Brand New Campaign LLC - federal campaign filings show. . . ."
We suspect that the irregularities in Chakrabarti's activities and the irregularities in Ocasio-Cortez's resume and activities were not only deliberately preconceived, but are part of an electoral "Psy-Op" that will get considerable coverage in the 2020 campaign, possibly handing victory to Trump.
"Team AOC" will of, course, cry "racism" via Twitter.
AOC has already been handed Martyr Status by Donald Trump's attacks, and we believe she may well become the face of the Democratic Party, as Team Trump wishes. ...

1-1:30 A Talk by Jane Anne Morris & Richard Grossman - 'Defying Corporations, Defining Democracy'
The Rio Earth Summit of 1992, also known as the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development was the first time the world on the scale of the UN was paying attention to patterns of production - particularly the production of toxic components, or poisonous waste and radioactive chemicals. The first time that alternative sources of energy were called for to replace the use of fossil fuels, and the role of fossil fuels in climate change was acknowledged.
A small group of thoughtful individuals had come together - just before the Earth Summit - and asked: Who are the most powerful players in global economics that might prevent action to stop climate change. And the members of the group, that took the name POCLAD, Project on Corporations, Law and Democracy agreed: Corporations are using the Law to subvert Democracy and have now become more powerful than nation states.
Two of their most public members were Richard Grossman, who co-founded POCLAD and Jane Anne Morris. They were not just excellent writers of pamphlets and books but very popular public speakers.
Both came to Seattle in 2001 and talked about ways to defy corporations and re-define democracy that had been so grotesquely subverted. Jane Anne Morris spoke first.
Grossman and Morris later connected with CELDF, the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund - and taught and developed material for their Democracy School weekend sessions. Sadly both are no longer with us, Richard Grossman died in November 2011, and Jane Anne Morris in March of 2019.

1:30-2 'The Energy Nightmare of The Internet' - Jane Anne Morris
This is an update and adaptation of an interview with Jane Anne Morris on the program "Corporations and Democracy" on KZYX radio in Mendocino, CA. She began by expressing her surprise why everybody calculates the impact on the environment of raising beef for a Hamburger while nobody seems to calculate the impact of an internet search or upload.
Jane Anne Morris began searching for that number over ten years ago. She wrote an article on "The Energy Nightmare of Web Server Farms" in 2008 and - in 2012 calculated how many bicycles would be needed to keep the internet supplied with green power. That article is: "Eat, Sleep, Click: The Bicycle-Powered Internet."
Numbers are now easier to come by and they are staggering and growing. The Swedish Royal Institute of Technology in 2018 published their research that quote: "Around 10% of the world's total electricity consumption is being used by the internet."
A news feature in the Journal Nature from September 2018 says: "The five biggest global companies by market capitalization this year are currently Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Microsoft and Facebook, replacing titans such as Shell and ExxonMobil. ... As demand for Internet and mobile-phone traffic skyrockets, the information industry could lead to an explosion in energy use .."
Jane Anne Morris was an author, researcher, writer and workshop leader with POCLAD the Program on Corporations, Law and Democracy. She was only 65 when she died in May, 2019. And this program is a tribute to her life and work. On March first 2013 my friends Annie Esposito and Steve Scalmanini interviewed Jane Anne Morris on their radio program on KZYX in Mendocino County, CA.
