BEHIND THE SCENES
I will be taking a 3-week vacation starting Jan 7-28 - haven't had a day off in several years and feel it's time. Buzz will be taking over hosting and engineering and will be co-producing
the program with me, so the program won't be losing its continuity.

Throughout the year, the Cancer Control Society distributes literature, books and videos on everything in Alternative Medicine from amygdalin to zinc. Lorraine Rosenthal, the organization's Co-Founder, answers many calls each day, giving direction and hope
to those in need. She also attends many other conventions and public events throughout the year, distributing information on CCS and the latest findings in Alternative Therapies.

TULLIO SIMONCINI, M.D. received his Degree in 1976 from La Sapienza University, Rome Italy, majoring in Surgery. He followed this with specialized studies in Diabetes and Metabolic Illnesses at the Sacro Cuore University, also in Rome, in 1983. In 1996 Dr.

Tami's Takeaway: A very simple technique that Dr. Helen Riess teaches for establishing empathic connection with people is to mentally note the eye color of the person when you first meet. This is a technique that she teaches to doctors and medical practitioners who are often moving quickly in a task-oriented way, not pausing to make genuine contact with the people they are serving. (Sound familiar, anyone?) My takeaway is to employ this technique in the office at Sounds True with the 130 people who work here. The early reports indicate that these experiments in noting eye color (even during hallway conversations and in meetings) have quickly created a sense of real connection-moments that I cherish.

The best known of JFK's actions with regard to Cuba, the "Thirteen Days" exemplifies how Kennedy stood against the Cold War political establishment and what President Eisenhower called "The Military-Industrial Complex," earning the hatred of key players on the U.S. political stage at the time.
Once it became clear that the Soviets had placed offensive intermediate range ballistic missiles in Cuba, plans were drawn up for both air strikes to take out the missiles and a military invasion of Cuba as a whole. Kennedy was excoriated for taking a more thoughtful tack.

E. Howard Hunt was also present in Dallas, Texas on 11/22/1963, as revealed in a memo crafted by James Angleton.

Tami's Takeaway: A very simple technique that Dr. Helen Riess teaches for establishing empathic connection with people is to mentally note the eye color of the person when you first meet. This is a technique that she teaches to doctors and medical practitioners who are often moving quickly in a task-oriented way, not pausing to make genuine contact with the people they are serving. (Sound familiar, anyone?) My takeaway is to employ this technique in the office at Sounds True with the 130 people who work here. The early reports indicate that these experiments in noting eye color (even during hallway conversations and in meetings) have quickly created a sense of real connection-moments that I cherish.

After reviewing discussion from FTR #1032, the program highlights the Cuban Missile Crisis. The best known of JFK's actions with regard to Cuba, the "Thirteen Days" exemplifies how Kennedy stood against the Cold War political establishment and what President Eisenhower called "The Military-Industrial Complex," earning the hatred of key players on the U.S. political stage at the time.
Once it became clear that the Soviets had placed offensive intermediate range ballistic missiles in Cuba, plans were drawn up for both air strikes to take out the missiles and a military invasion of Cuba as a whole. Kennedy was excoriated for taking a more thoughtful tack.

Continuing discussion from FTR #1033, the program highlights activities of Bay of Pigs and Watergate participant E. Howard Hunt. One of the primary CIA officers in the abortive Bay of Pigs, Hunt loathed Kennedy, helped ghost-write the Charles Murphy apologia for Allen Dulles & Company in Fortune magazine (see FTR #1032), and may have been involved with the JFK assassination.
E. Howard Hunt was also present in Dallas, Texas on 11/22/1963, as revealed in a memo crafted by James Angleton.

The December mini-fund drive is over, probably finished short of goal which was $350,000. As of Thursday night, our total is $212, 660. I estimate a final total $270,000. Thank you to those of your who could and did participate. Some belt tightening may be warranted - our new General Manager and brand new Program Director will have some planning to do. Our local board election is happening and we need thoughtful people to participate to make a quorum. A good board with a touch of experience and professionalism will be needed to keep us on the upswing. As a staff member I can reveal no preferences. However my formula of choice is discriminating between what candidates want to do WITH the station, do TO the station and do FOR the station. Also, candidates are frequently confused about the fact that board members do not make programming decisions.

CCS President Frank Cousineau and Vice President Charles Wintner co-host the Annual Cancer Control Society Convention, introducing 40 speakers over a three day period and moderating a Doctors' Symposium on day four.

Possessed of a deep understanding of how the struggle for, and desire for, national independence by colonial possessions of America's World War II allies undercut the casting of these nations' affairs in a stark "East vs. West" Cold War context, Kennedy put his political vision into play in many instances. It was his attempts at realizing his political vision through concrete policy that precipitated his murder.

When the United States reneged on its commitment to pursue independence for the colonial territories of its European allies at the end of the Second World War, the stage was set for those nations' desire for freedom to be cast as incipient Marxists/Communists. This development was the foundation for epic bloodshed and calamity.
Jim details then Congressman John F. Kennedy's 1951 fact-finding trip to Saigon to gain an understanding of the French war to retain their colony of Indochina. (Vietnam was part of that colony.)
In speaking with career diplomat Edmund Gullion, Kennedy came to the realization that not only would the French lose the war, but that Ho Chi Minh and the Viet Minh guerrillas enjoyed great popular support among the Vietnamese people.
This awareness guided JFK's Vietnam policy, in which he not only resisted tremendous pressure to commit U.S. combat troops to Vietnam, but planned a withdrawal of U.S. forces from Vietnam. (We have covered this in numerous programs over the decades, including-most recently-FTR #978.)
In future discussion, we will analyze at greater length and in greater detail how Lyndon Baines Johnson reversed JFK's Vietnam policy and authorized the enduring carnage that was to follow.
The fledgling nation of Laos was also part of French Indochina, and Jim notes how outgoing President Eisenhower coached President-Elect Kennedy on the necessity of committing U.S. combat forces to Laos.
The CIA was already backing the Hmong tribesmen and financing their guerrilla warfare by assisting in the marketing of their primary revenue-earning crop-opium. (We discussed this at considerable length in AFA #24, among other programs.)
Again, Kennedy refused to commit U.S. ground forces and engineered a policy of neutrality for Laos...

The second of a planned long series of interviews with Jim DiEugenio about his triumphal analysis of President Kennedy's assassination and New Orleans Jim Garrison's heroic investigation of the killing, this program begins with discussion of President Kennedy's precocious political vision. Possessed of a deep understanding of how the struggle for, and desire for, national independence by colonial possessions of America's World War II allies undercut the casting of these nations' affairs in a stark "East vs. West" Cold War context, Kennedy put his political vision into play in many instances. It was his attempts at realizing his political vision through concrete policy that precipitated his murder.

When the United States reneged on its commitment to pursue independence for the colonial territories of its European allies at the end of the Second World War, the stage was set for those nations' desire for freedom to be cast as incipient Marxists/Communists. This development was the foundation for epic bloodshed and calamity.
The program concludes with review of Kennedy's stance on Algeria. A French colony in North Africa, Algerian independence forces waged a fierce guerrilla war in an attempt at becoming free from France. Once again, Kennedy opposed the Western consensus on Algeria, which sought to retain that property as a French possession...

Most of the time, when I hear people talk about climate change, I feel some combination of fear, helplessness, and resignation. Listening to Paul Hawken, I felt activated and turned on. As he says, it's not about "game over" for the human race, but "game on" . . . and how this is a time when we are called to step forward into our greatest human capacities and possibilities. Paul Hawken transmits the beauty, flow, and regenerative power of the natural world in a way that is contagious. When the interview was over, I felt like everything around me was in a shimmering fluid state, in unstoppable regenerative flow.

Kabbalah has reached the mainstream, with people from all walks of life studying this formal meditation system from Judaism's mystical path. Yet, when Perle Besserman published the first edition of 'Kabbalah: The Way of the Jewish Mystic' over 30 years ago, fea outsiders had access to the rich lore and practices associated with it. With this audio edition of her landmark work, Besserman shares the Kabbalah 'from mouth to ear' in the oral tradition as it was originally taught almost 1000 years ago. Besserman tells how today's Kabbalists are the direct heirs to a mass movement of everyday mystics stretching back many centuries. 2-2:30 Paul Stamets: "Mushrooms, Bees, and Saving the World, 2018"
As forests burn across the US and misguided attempts to prevent fires by clear-cutting or raking the forest floor are being proposed, TUC Radio remembers the mycologist and author Paul Stamets. He is calling attention to the fact that old growth forests contain organisms that can heal us, feed us, or kill us.
More than any other scientist practicing today, Paul Stamets has dedicated himself to the life of fungi and that of their underground support system, the mycelium. Stamets says that the mycelia are soil magicians. They give rise not just to mushrooms but form an integral part of the forest ecosystem. The mycelia are disassemblers, creating the debris fields that then feed their fungal descendants. They also show purpose in choosing microbial allies, and Stamets believes they are part of the earth's natural internet that is in constant bio-molecular communication, governing the ecosystem.
Paul Stamets has studied mushrooms for over 40 years. He discovered new species of fungi, saved ancient ones from extinction, and pioneered countless techniques of mushroom cultivation. Along the way he found many ways how fungi can be healers of people and the environment.
His premise is that that mushroom mycelium connects the immune systems between humans and environment - and that premise has been proven many times in his collaborations with scientific institutions and labs.

We have spoken repeatedly about the Nazi tract "Serpent's Walk," in which the Third Reich goes underground, buys into the opinion-forming media and, eventually, takes over.
Hitler, the Third Reich and their actions are glorified and memorialized.
Something similar is happening today in Ukraine.
In 2015, a book was published examining the life of Stepan (also transliterated as "Stephan") Bandera, the Ukrainian fascist and Third Reich ally whose political heirs ascended to power in Ukraine through the Maidan coup. CORRECTION: Mr. Emory, working from memory, misidentified the publication in which Daniel Lazare's article appeared. It was "Jacobin Magazine," not "Counterpunch."
We have repeatedly made the point that the dimensions of official lying in the West were of truly Orwellian proportions-documented World War II history was being dismissed as "Russian propaganda" or "Kremlin propaganda."
" . . . But thanks to Grzegorz Rossolinski-Liebe's Stepan Bandera: The Life and Afterlife of a Ukrainian Nationalist, it now seems clear: those terrible Russians were right. . . Although Bandera and his followers would later try to paint the alliance with the Third Reich as no more than 'tactical,' an attempt to pit one totalitarian state against another, it was in fact deep-rooted and ideological. Bandera envisioned the Ukraine as a classic one-party state with himself in the role of führer, or providnyk, and expected that a new Ukraine would take its place under the Nazi umbrella, much as Jozef Tiso's new fascist regime had in Slovakia or Ante Pavelic's in Croatia. . . ."
Indeed. This is the point we have been making for many years.
The Ukrainian government continues its reversal of the documented history of World War II: An exhibit celebrating "Ukrainian independence" revels in the OUN/B, Nazi-allied forces that ascended in Ukraine after the Third Reich's invasion of the Soviet Union...
