MONDAY JANUARY 23
12-2 DANNY SHEEHAN
“TRAJECTORY OF JUSTICE”
Class: 5-21-2015: ‘’Building a Meaningful Thesis’’
Professor Sheehan attempts to clarify the topic of the final research paper by presenting his thesis for students to use in their own formation of topics that will define their purpose and goals in combatting upcoming and current crises.
Sheehan’s thesis: There exists (and always has existed, since the beginning of Western civilization) an elite group of people who have been ruling from shadows and who have been effective in imposing their views and will upon the rest of us. At this time, this elite group is made up of corporations that are engaged in activities that cause climate change and are generally disrupting the natural flow of the planet. If left unchecked, all social structures will be so disrupted that major chaos will ensue within the next thirty years. To stop this, radical actions must take place, and oppressive forces are in place to subdue such a radical uprising.
Professor Sheehan goes on to list a number of organizations that he does NOT believe to be this “elite oligarchy,” in opposition to many conspiracy theories.
The implications of global climate change are considered, including the rise in the sea levels, which will move the coastline in ten miles, displacing 60 percent of the population. Due to this, the freshwater sources will be contaminated twenty-five miles inland, and approximately 400 nuclear power plants that line the coast will be submerged, contaminating the oceans and killing sea life.
The stock market as a completely speculative, detached entity is discussed relative to its history. This is the cause of corporate corruption. Corporations cannot be morally liable because their sole motive is to maximize profits at any cost. Therefore, this lack of ethical reasoning is ultimately responsible for global climate change.
The lecture closes with a discussion of the National Security State rolling into place in the United States through various, strategically placed pieces of legislation, including the concept of Continuity of Government, which is discussed at length.
The concept of the Shadow Government will be further considered in subsequent lectures.

2-3 Noam Chomsky, “Racing to the Precipice”
Program #CHON274. Recorded in Sao Paolo, BR on November 25, 2022.
The warnings about the climate emergency are coming in fast and furious, yet public awareness and political action remain at a low level. The latest report is from the World Meteorological Organization, a UN agency. Its director said, “The impacts of climate change” are “often felt through water—more intense and frequent droughts, more extreme flooding, more erratic seasonal rainfall and accelerated melting of glaciers—with cascading effects on economies, ecosystems, and all aspects of our daily lives.” There is an urgent need for collective action to avoid irreversible tipping points. Meanwhile, The Guardian reports, fossil fuel corporations “are making astronomical amounts of money.” Politically, the mitigation measures taken so far are woefully inadequate. People are distracted. They know more about the World Cup than the climate crisis.Interviewed by David Barsamian.
Noam Chomsky, by any measure, has led a most extraordinary life. In one index he is ranked as the eighth most cited person in history, right up there with Aristotle, Shakespeare, Marx, Plato and Freud. His contributions to modern linguistics are legendary. In addition to his pioneering work in that field, he has been a leading voice for peace and social justice for many decades. Chris Hedges says he is “America’s greatest intellectual” who “makes the powerful, as well as their liberal apologists, deeply uncomfortable.” The New Statesman calls him “the conscience of the American people.” He is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Linguistics and Philosophy at MIT and Laureate Professor of Linguistics and Haury Chair in the Program in Environment and Social Justice at the
University of Arizona. At 94, he is still active; writing and giving interviews to the media all over the world. He is the author of scores of books, his latest are Consequences of Capitalism, Chronicles of Dissent and Notes on Resistance. From Alternative Radio, 1 (800) 444-1977, www.alternativeradio.org.
3-4 Richard Wolff “Law and Disorder”. (Jan. 16, 2023)
The Sickness is the System: When Capitalism Fails to Save Us from Pandemics or Itself
We all know almost instinctively that there is a connection between politics and economics. Today we talk with Professor Richard Wolff about that connection. We live in a world in economic turmoil, all the more so because of the US and NATO proxy war against Russia in Ukraine.
At home in the United States, we have the greatest wealth disparity and income disparity in a century. When Standard Old,now Exxon, owner John D. Rockefeller died he was worth $3 billion. Now Jeff Bezos is worth about $180 billion. There has not been a national increase in the minimum wage of $7.25 an hour in decades. Half the people in America are poor or near poor.
There has been a dramatic increase in labor militancy by American workers not seen since just before and just after World War II. US world hegemony is starting to fray even as the military budget increases.
This month Congress passed a budget bill with half of it going to the military. The military received 45 billion dollars more than they even asked for. What is going on? What are the prospects for political action independent of these two capitalist parties?
Guest - Richard D. Wolff is Professor of Economics Emeritus, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Visiting Professor in the Graduate Program in International Affairs of the New School University, NYC. He is the founder of Democracy at Work and host of their nationally syndicated show Economic Update.

12-1 Dave Emory, For the Record #273- Interview #12 with Jim DiEugenio an Dr. Gary Aquilar about ‘JFK Revisited’.
POSTED BY DAVE EMORY ⋅ DECEMBER 8, 2022
This broadcast continues our visits with Jim DiEugenio–author of Destiny Betrayed and JFK Revisited–selected by Oliver Stone to write the screenplay for his latest documentary.
In these broadcasts, we are additionally privileged by the participation of Dr. Gary Aquilar, one of the experts featured in the Stone/DiEugenio documentary, as well as being one of the ground-breaking figures in the ongoing inquiry into the medical evidence in the assassination.
Dr. Aquilar highlighted the deep professional compromising of people who filled “expert” roles in the various medical examinations, the involvement of a number of them as “experts” in other, important intelligence-connected cases such as the assassination of Martin Luther King.
In particular, Dr. Aquilar parsed the inconsistencies in a review of the medical evidence in the JFK assassination case that was instituted by then Attorney General Ramsey Clark–“inconsistencies” which are difficult to ascribe to caprice or error.
In addition to his presentation of new material with which even Jim DiEugenio was unfamiliar, Gary was instrumental in discussion of the medical/forensic evidence in the JFK assassination case.

1-2 Insights at the Edge: Elaine Gibson
“Learning from Family Systems Theory”
How do you view your family of origin? Our family dynamics have a tremendous influence on how we feel about ourselves, show up in the world, and relate to others. When these dynamics are subconscious, we remain bound and encumbered by them. But when we bring them to the surface, we can engage our power to change and grow.
In this thought-provoking podcast, Tami Simon speaks with marriage and family therapist Elaine Carney Gibson about her new book, Your Family Revealed: A Guide to Decoding the Patterns, Stories, and Belief Systems in Your Family. They discuss family systems that serve each individual, making sacrifices versus being sacrificial, the metaphor of the labyrinth, healing emotional wounds, what a healthy functioning hierarchy looks like, the advice “wear beige and be quiet,” setting and maintaining clear boundaries, using disagreements as a tool for growth and connection, the parentified child, the phenomenon of triangulation in relationships, intergenerational trauma, the future of family therapy, and more.
Elaine Carney Gibson, LMFT, LPC, is a practicing psychotherapist of almost 50 years. She sees individuals, couples, and families, specializing in relationship therapy. She taught graduate courses in marriage and family therapy for many years and is the director of the Marriage and Family Therapy Training Institute of The Link Counseling Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
