Class delivered April 23 at U.C. Santa Cruz
Dan Sheehan initiated and litigated both the case that established, before The United States Supreme Court, the right of unmarried persons to access to birth control information and devises and the case that established, again as the result
of a United States Supreme Court case, the right of American journalists to protect the identity of their confidential news sources from compulsory disclosure to state or federal grand juries. Dan was then retained as a Trial Attorney for America’s #1 Litigation
Law Firm on Wall Street, the firm of Cahill, Gordon, Sonnett, Reindel & Ohl where he carried those two cases, and other important First Amendment cases to the U.S. Supreme Court, most notably New York Times v. U.S. (the Pentagon Papers Case). As Chief Trial
Counsel for the National Office of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Rocky Mountain Regional Office in Denver, Colorado, Dan served as Chief Trial Counsel on numerous cases on behalf of Native American rights including as Amicus Counsel in The Wounded Knee
Occupation and its following trials…thereinafter being made Legal Counsel for the Native American Rights Committee of ACLU National. Dan also served as Special Counsel to the law firm of famed criminal defense attorney F. Lee Bailey during that firm’s representation
of Watergate Burglary wiretapping specialist James McCord – the man who “blew the whistle” on Richard Nixon and his infamous “Plumbers Unit” that led directly to the resignation of Richard Nixon as President.
After the completion of The Wounded Knee Case and The Watergate Burglary Case, Dan returned to Harvard University where he pursued his Masters Degree and then his Ph.D in the field of Christian Social Ethics and Comparative Ethics.

1:30-2 Paul Street: ‘The Authoritarian Absurdity of the U.S. Constitution’ #2
Paul Street on Why it Matters Today This is the conclusion of Part ONE of the talk by Paul Street, an independent radical-democratic
policy researcher, teacher, journalist, historian, and author of seven books. In this talk, that he gave at the Open University of the Left in Chicago in March 2019, he offered arguments and proof that the US constitution is not the sacred document protecting
the “Peoples Rights”, but on the contrary is authoritarian and anti-democratic by design.
After a summary from Part ONE the topics in this part TWO range from problems with impeachment, the Supreme Court decisions equating money with speech and with the Democratic Party neo-liberal tendencies. Conversely the formation of
a third party is also made near impossible under the restriction of the constitution.
However Paul Street says that electoral politics, constitutional interventions, congressional investigations and Muller reports are not the only or even the leading politics that matter. He ends with an enthusiastic endorsement of what
can be done. Among his recommendations: Take to the streets, go on strike, occupy workplaces, idle capital, besiege corporate headquarters, protest corporate media, prevent pipelines and ecocide. Form grassroots movements, defend immigrant, provide sanctuary,
oppose the racist police, learn from the Yellow Vests in France and the Extinction Rebellion in England, engage in civil disobedience, make movements fun again, hold workshops to show what capital and industry are doing to a livable ecology, – people are doing
this.
But, Paul Street concludes, we should also be calling for a new national government and a new national charter.
Paul Street’s essays and commentaries have appeared in a wide variety of media such as CounterPunch, Truthdig, Black Agenda Report, the Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, and CNN to name only a few. And he is the author of seven books.

Latina who fits neatly into the anti-Latin bigotry institutionalized in Trump's GOP, brands as a socialist (perfect for the Karl Roves and Trumps of this world), has stated her intention to work against Democratic incumbents with whose policy positions she
disagrees, and demonstrated a lack of economic sophistication in her comments about Amazon's failed New York City Deal and in the presentation of the Green New Deal.
The ascent of AOC was effected in large measure by two overlapping organizations-Justice Democrats and Brand New Congress-both co-founded by Saikat Chakrabarti,
and Indian-American, Harvard-educated, Wall Street and Silicon Valley multi-millionaire, and fan of major Axis collaborator Subhas Chandra Bose. Brand New Congress was co-founded by a University of Pennsylvania-educated Turkish
American, Cenk Uygur, who has a history of denying the Turkish genocide against the Armenians, as we shall see. (Like Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania is an Ivy League School.)
The radical Democratic newcomers are precipitating a war within the Democratic Party, ignoring the fact that the Democrats retook Congress as a result of victories
by moderate candidates in districts taken by Trump in 2016...
Chakrabarti is fundamental to the rise of Alexandria
Ocasio-Cortez. Chakrabarti was AOC's campaign manager and is her current chief of staff. Both Justice Democrats and Brand New Congress donated a total of $900,000 to a consulting firm also headed by Chakrabarti.
Until recently, AOC sat on the board of one of them.
In a recent twitter video post defending AOC's mercurial social media activity, Chakrabarti appeared with a T-Shirt featuring
a picture of Subhas Chandra Bose, an Indian nationalist who allied himself with both Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. He has a habit of wearing Subhas Chandra Bose garb...

In October 2018 about one hundred academics signed a call to action. They established Extinction Rebellion in the United Kingdom. The movement has become international with Naomi Klein, Vandana Shiva and Noam Chomsky signing their support
to the second letter.
The goal of Extinction Rebellion is to use non-violent resistance to bring about radical change to prevent climate collapse, loss of biodiversity and to reduce the risk of human extinction.
Dr. Rupert Read is teaching Philosophy at the University of East Anglia. He is a long time Green Party politician and a former Green Party spokesperson for transport.
He spoke on February 6, 2019 at the University of East Anglia.

‘The War on Chiropractic” Part 2
The AMA did its best to undercut workmen’s compensation programs for chiropractic care, but it was fighting a losing battle on that front, because evidence mounted that for typical industrial injuries– the strains, sprains, and wrenched
backs typically caused by lifting something too heavy—chiropractic is nearly twice as effective as any treatment by medical physicians, measured by the number of days it takes for workers with comparable neck or back injuries to go back on the job.
During the Chicago trial, the chiropractors relied only on those studies that had been done by medical physicians in order to obviate any argument of bias. There was a famous study done of 1,000 cases in California by C. Richard Wolf. M.D.,
of the California Workmen’s Compensation Bureau. Dr. Wolf concluded that while it took 32 days for a medical physician to get the average injured worker back on the job, the chiropractors average time was 15.6 days for comparable injuries, or slightly less
than one-half.

Chakrabarti is fundamental to the rise of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Chakrabarti was AOC’s campaign manager and is her current chief of staff. Both Justice Democrats and Brand New Congress donated a total of $900,000 to a consulting firm
also headed by Chakrabarti. Until recently, AOC sat on the board of one of them.
In a recent twitter video post defending AOC’s mercurial social media activity, Chakrabarti appeared with a T-Shirt featuring a picture of Subhas Chandra Bose, an Indian nationalist who allied himself with both Nazi Germany and Imperial
Japan. He has a habit of wearing Subhas Chandra Bose garb…

Are marches and demonstrations just feel good affairs? You vent some spleen then go home satisfied as if you’ve done something worthwhile and before you know it the glow wears off? Or does the power of collective action, solidarity and
mass mobilizations have a deeper effect? The key to resistance is organization leading to sustained efforts. The danger of demonstrations is if they are not connected to movements. The former is episodic whereas movements are enduring. The historic 1963 March
on Washington for civil rights and the subsequent anti-Vietnam War demonstrations had a major impact. Those protests attracted hundreds of thousands. Since the Trump inauguration in January 2017 there have been more protests than during any comparable period
in U.S. history, literally millions have turned out. People are getting off of tweets and into the streets in larger and larger numbers.

In October 2018 about one hundred academics signed a call to action. They established Extinction Rebellion in the United Kingdom. The movement has become international with Naomi Klein, Vandana Shiva and Noam Chomsky signing their support
to the second letter.
The goal of Extinction Rebellion is to use non-violent resistance to bring about radical change to prevent climate collapse, loss of biodiversity and to reduce the risk of human extinction.
Dr. Rupert Read is teaching Philosophy at the University of East Anglia. He is a long time Green Party politician and a former Green Party spokesperson for transport.

The AMA did its best to undercut workmen’s compensation programs for chiropractic care, but it was fighting a losing battle on that front, because evidence mounted that for typical industrial injuries– the strains, sprains, and wrenched
backs typically caused by lifting something too heavy—chiropractic is nearly twice as effective as any treatment by medical physicians, measured by the number of days it takes for workers with comparable neck or back injuries to go back on the job.
During the Chicago trial, the chiropractors relied only on those studies that had been done by medical physicians in order to obviate any argument of bias. There was a famous study done of 1,000 cases in California by C. Richard Wolf. M.D.,
of the California Workmen’s Compensation Bureau. Dr. Wolf concluded that while it took 32 days for a medical physician to get the average injured worker back on the job, the chiropractors average time was 15.6 days for comparable injuries, or slightly less
than one-half.

Rulers of the Realm: Introduction (2019)
This course of 20 lectures given at U.C. Santa Cruz is the fifth time Danny has given it over the last years, each year, of course, changing emphasis while the times, the trajectory, and the climate change. It has been described 'from
Desert Storm to Standing Rock.'
The course gave credits for majors in History, Politics, Legal Studies, Sociology and Philosophy and contains a wide range of known and surprisingly unknown (to most) facts. One of the great rewards of the lecture and series is detail
on how we have escaped the current and recurrent situation of our national political/economic strangulation in the past and how we can do it again.
Since 2006, Daniel Sheehan has served as the lead attorney and general counsel for the Lakota People’s Law Project (LPLP). Much of LPLP’s work has been in South Dakota to stop violations of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and rescue
Lakota children from an abusive state care system.
He initiated and litigated both the case that established, before The United States Supreme Court, the right of unmarried persons to access to birth control information and devises and the case that established, again as the result
of a United States Supreme Court case, the right of American journalists to protect the identity of their confidential news sources from compulsory disclosure to state or federal grand juries.
Dan was then retained as a Trial Attorney for America’s #1 Litigation Law Firm on Wall Street, the firm of Cahill, Gordon, Sonnett, Reindel & Ohl where he carried those two cases, and other important First Amendment cases to the U.S.
Supreme Court, most notably New York Times v. U.S. (the Pentagon Papers Case). As Chief Trial Counsel for the National Office of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Rocky Mountain Regional Office in Denver, Colorado, Dan served as Chief Trial Counsel on numerous
cases on behalf of Native American rights including as Amicus Counsel in The Wounded Knee Occupation and its following trials…thereinafter being made Legal Counsel for the Native American Rights Committee of ACLU National. Dan also served as Special Counsel
to the law firm of famed criminal defense attorney F. Lee Bailey during that firm’s representation of Watergate Burglary wiretapping specialist James McCord – the man who “blew the whistle” on Richard Nixon and his infamous “Plumbers Unit” that led directly
to the resignation of Richard Nixon as President.
Dan then became a Candidate for the Jesuit Priesthood and served as General Counsel to the United States Jesuit Headquarters in Washington, D.C. for ten years, where he also served as the Co-Director of the American Jesuit Order’s National
Office of Social Ministry. There he partnered with Father William J. Davis,a member of the famous “Berrigan Brothers Gang” of Jesuit Priest Daniel Berrigan and his brother Phillip, a Josephite Catholic Priest and then partnered with National Organization of
Women (N.O.W.) National Labor Secretary Sara Nelson, the Oil, Chemical & Atomic Workers Union and the Environmental Policy Institute in Washington, D.C. to launch and successfully prosecute the Karen Silkwood case (Silkwood v. Kerr-McGee) – which stopped the
construction of all new private nuclear power plants in the United States between 1979 and the present. Dan and Father Davis and Sara Nelson then went on to co-found The Christic Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public interest law firm and public policy center
in Washington, D.C. that, over the next 12-year period, investigated and successfully civilly prosecute many of the most celebrated public interest cases of our generation. In 1984, in the midst of successfully defending the first members of The American Sanctuary
Movement to be publicly prosecuted by the Reagan/Bush Administration for aiding political refugees escaping Central American Death Squads funded by that Administration, Dan and his Christic Institute colleagues uncovered and investigated the infamous “Off-The-Shelf,
Stand Alone, Self-Financing ‘Private’ Covert Operations ENTERPRISE” OF Lt. Colonel Oliver North and The Reagan/Bush Administration and then triggered The Iran-Contra Scandal with their filing of the Federal Criminal Racketeering Act civil lawsuit against 29
of the “retired” former C.I.A. and U.S. Pentagon covert operations specialists who were the founders and leaders of that “ENTERPRISE.” While that suit failed to secure a final civil judgment, it succeeded in uncovering – and publicly-exposing – the long-time
pattern of criminal activity conducted by those individuals inside the US intelligence community.

personal journey from his working-class roots through Harvard Law School and his initial career in private practice. His early disenchantment led to his return for further study at Harvard Divinity School, and rethinking the nature of his career. Eventually
his role as President and Chief Trial Counselor for the famous Washington, DC-based Christic Institute would help define his role as America’s preeminent cause lawyer.

the Christian West. "The Christian West" is explained in the description for AFA #37: " . . . . When it became clear that the armies of the Third Reich were going to be defeated, it opened secret negotiations with representatives from the Western Allies. Representatives
on both sides belonged to the transatlantic financial and industrial fraternity that had actively supported fascism. The thrust of these negotiations was the establishment of The Christian West. Viewed by the Nazis as a vehicle for surviving military defeat,
'The Christian West' involved a Hitler-less Reich joining with the U.S., Britain, France and other European nations in a transatlantic, pan-European anti-Soviet alliance. In fact, The Christian West became a reality only after the cessation of hostilities.

This course of 20 lectures given at U.C. Santa Cruz is the fifth time Danny has given it over the last years, each year, of course, changing emphasis while the times, the trajectory, and the climate change. It has been described 'from
Desert Storm to Standing Rock.'
The course gave credits for majors in History, Politics, Legal Studies, Sociology and Philosophy and contains a wide range of known and surprisingly unknown (to most) facts. One of the great rewards of the lecture and series is detail
on how we have escaped the current and recurrent situation of our national political/economic strangulation in the past and how we can do it again.
Since 2006, Daniel Sheehan has served as the lead attorney and general counsel for the Lakota People’s Law Project (LPLP). Much of LPLP’s work has been in South Dakota to stop violations of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and rescue
Lakota children from an abusive state care system.
He initiated and litigated both the case that established, before The United States Supreme Court, the right of unmarried persons to access to birth control information and devises and the case that established, again as the result
of a United States Supreme Court case, the right of American journalists to protect the identity of their confidential news sources from compulsory disclosure to state or federal grand juries.
Dan was then retained as a Trial Attorney for America’s #1 Litigation Law Firm on Wall Street, the firm of Cahill, Gordon, Sonnett, Reindel & Ohl where he carried those two cases, and other important First Amendment cases to the U.S.
Supreme Court, most notably New York Times v. U.S. (the Pentagon Papers Case). As Chief Trial Counsel for the National Office of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Rocky Mountain Regional Office in Denver, Colorado, Dan served as Chief Trial Counsel on numerous
cases on behalf of Native American rights including as Amicus Counsel in The Wounded Knee Occupation and its following trials…thereinafter being made Legal Counsel for the Native American Rights Committee of ACLU National. Dan also served as Special Counsel
to the law firm of famed criminal defense attorney F. Lee Bailey during that firm’s representation of Watergate Burglary wiretapping specialist James McCord – the man who “blew the whistle” on Richard Nixon and his infamous “Plumbers Unit” that led directly
to the resignation of Richard Nixon as President.
Dan then became a Candidate for the Jesuit Priesthood and served as General Counsel to the United States Jesuit Headquarters in Washington, D.C. for ten years, where he also served as the Co-Director of the American Jesuit Order’s National
Office of Social Ministry. There he partnered with Father William J. Davis,a member of the famous “Berrigan Brothers Gang” of Jesuit Priest Daniel Berrigan and his brother Phillip, a Josephite Catholic Priest and then partnered with National Organization of
Women (N.O.W.) National Labor Secretary Sara Nelson, the Oil, Chemical & Atomic Workers Union and the Environmental Policy Institute in Washington, D.C. to launch and successfully prosecute the Karen Silkwood case (Silkwood v. Kerr-McGee) – which stopped the
construction of all new private nuclear power plants in the United States between 1979 and the present. Dan and Father Davis and Sara Nelson then went on to co-found The Christic Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public interest law firm and public policy center
in Washington, D.C. that, over the next 12-year period, investigated and successfully civilly prosecute many of the most celebrated public interest cases of our generation. In 1984, in the midst of successfully defending the first members of The American Sanctuary
Movement to be publicly prosecuted by the Reagan/Bush Administration for aiding political refugees escaping Central American Death Squads funded by that Administration, Dan and his Christic Institute colleagues uncovered and investigated the infamous “Off-The-Shelf,
Stand Alone, Self-Financing ‘Private’ Covert Operations ENTERPRISE” OF Lt. Colonel Oliver North and The Reagan/Bush Administration and then triggered The Iran-Contra Scandal with their filing of the Federal Criminal Racketeering Act civil lawsuit against 29
of the “retired” former C.I.A. and U.S. Pentagon covert operations specialists who were the founders and leaders of that “ENTERPRISE.” While that suit failed to secure a final civil judgment, it succeeded in uncovering – and publicly-exposing – the long-time
pattern of criminal activity conducted by those individuals inside the US intelligence community.

Alliance founding Convention that held at San Louis Obispo on 31 March

Since 2006, Daniel Sheehan has served as the lead attorney and general counsel for the Lakota People’s Law Project (LPLP). Much of LPLP’s work has been in South Dakota to stop violations of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and rescue
Lakota children from an abusive state care system.
In 2016, LPLP began organizing around the Dakota Access Pipeline. Our Lakota staff were on the ground at Oceti Sakowin camp from its inception in April 2016 to the final days in February, 2017. Daniel represented Chase Iron Eyes who faced
felony charges related to the #NoDAPL movement. Although Chase’s case did not go to trial, we are building an online archive to make public the strategy and details of our necessity and treaty defenses. To learn more about the work of Lakota People’s Law Project,
