MONDAY NIGHT, MAY 24.

12-1:30 THE ROLE OF THE PUBLIC INTELLECTUAL:
‘’Political Philosophy and Worldviews’’. – Nov 24, 2014

SANTA CRUZ FREE UNIVERSITY FALL 2014
Background and Motivation for “The Role of the Public Intellectual”: Constrained by their State Boards of Regents, State Colleges & Universities of Western Culture impose requirements upon their Professors that compel them to promote beliefs that support both the objectives and ideologies of the Nation State of which they are a part of. Private Colleges of Western Culture are similarly constrained by their Private Boards of Overseers to promote beliefs that support the private financial interests of contributors who personally finance those private Institutions. In Western Culture, these beliefs include: the primacy of the economic system of State Capitalism; the ideologies of Caucasian Racial Superiority and Female Inferiority; the belief in Scientific Logical Positivism and Materialism (these beliefs are often masked as the development of a superior capacity to function intellectually in order to achieve long range goals rather than functioning emotionally to indulge short term personal satisfactions); and the indoctrination of their students in the dual doctrines of Nationalism and The Legitimization of the Resort to the Use of Military Violence to Achieve the Selfish Economic Goals The Elite of their Nation State.
Just as Political Public Office-Holders in State and Federal Governments feel “constrained” from speaking the truth that they have learned in their positions until after they have“retired from public office, College & University Professors inside State and Private Colleges & Universities oft-times feel constrained from sharing with their students their true conclusions about the academic subjects that they have spent a lifetime teaching until after they have achieved Emeritus status – at which time it is often too late to reach a student audience.

2:30-3:45 “Chernobyl is Everywhere”
“Chernobyl is everywhere.” Back in 1986, just after the nuclear meltdown in the north of Ukrainian USSR, the philosopher Günther Anders adjusted his previous slogan "Hiroshima is everywhere" to signal that our entire Earth could collapse in an instant of nuclear devastation — whether in Japan, Ukraine, or the Marshall Islands.

35 years later, we mark the anniversary of Chernobyl by asking the fundamental question of the nuclear age: Were these nuclear disasters just “accidents,” or were they cooked into a nuclear politics that attempted to draw a line between “military use” and “peaceful use” of nuclear energy while driving us to the total annihilation of space and time?

In this episode of The Internationalist, we will not only reflect on the anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster and its everlasting consequences, we will also consider the deeper political and ethical meaning of nuclear politics in the age of endless ecological crisis.

Speakers
- Franco "Bifo" Berardi", philosopher and author of "The Second Coming" (live)
- Kate Hudson, political activist, Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) (video statement)
-Sabu Kohso, activist and author of "Radiation and Revolution" (live)

Dr. Eileen Natuzzi is one of many healthcare workers who left retirement to help fight COVID-19. The former acute-care trauma surgeon with a master’s in public health went to work for the San Diego County Department of Public Health’s COVID case investigation team, which was tasked with interviewing people who tested positive for the virus.

Natuzzi told Children’s Health Defense Chairman Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., on the “RFK Jr The Defender Podcast,” that San Diego County did an “excellent job of pulling together their contact tracing, case investigation, outbreak investigation.”
But when she and her colleagues recommended a different approach to classifying COVID cases, they ran into resistance from the agency. …

WEDNESDAY NIGHT, MAY 26

12-1 Dave Emory, “For the Record #1177 - The Jakarta Method in Latin America’’

With the escalating rhetoric and imposition of sanctions for China’s alleged genocide against the Uighurs in Xinjiang province, it is valuable to recall American-assisted atrocities during the Cold War.
In numerous programs, we have highlighted wholesale slaughter in Latin American countries, implemented by fascists operating in an international constellation coalescing around the USA.
That constellation was termed the International Fascista (or “Fascist International”) by Henrik Krueger, and is detailed in, among other programs, AFA #‘s 4, 19, and 22.
In addition, the role of the former World Anti-Communist League in the death squad activity in Central America was set forth in AFA #15.
In FTR#839, we presented Peter Levenda’s account of his visit to Colonia Dignidad in Chile–a Nazi encampment that served as an operational epicenter for Operation Condor, a CIA-assisted mass murder consortium composed of Latin American nations.
The essence of the Condor program was summed up by Argentinian General Antonio Domingo. (“Subversives” were killed for real or alleged: communism, atheism, Jewishness or union activities.) “. . . . First, we will kill all the subversives, then we will kill all of their collaborators, then those who sympathize with the subversives, then we kill those that remain indifferent, and finally we kill the timid. . . .”
A very, very important and superbly written and documented new book–‘’The Jakarta Method: Washington’s Anticommunist Crusade & the Mass Murder Program that Shaped Our World’’ by Vincent Bevins–chronicles the slaughter that the U.S. implemented in the developing world during the Cold War.
Listeners are emphatically encouraged to purchase and read the book….

1-2 Scholars Circle “The U.S. Military’s Environmental Impact”
(May 15)

Since the military is not transparent, it is not easy to study the "carbon boot-print" of the US military. How did our guest do it? What did they find out?

We spend the hour looking at the environmental impact of the US military. How much does the US military pollute the environment? What is its role in climate change causing green house emissions? The military has taken some measures to reduce its impact on the environment and green gas emissions, but our guests say these measures do little to assuage the military’s bigger effects on climate change. What are these effects and what can be done about them? [ dur: 58mins. ]
