Background and Motivation for “The Role of the Public Intellectual”: Constrained by their State Boards of Regents, State Colleges & Universities of Western Culture impose requirements upon their Professors that compel them to promote beliefs that support both the objectives and ideologies of the Nation State of which they are a part of. Private Colleges of Western Culture are similarly constrained by their Private Boards of Overseers to promote beliefs that support the private financial interests of contributors who personally finance those private Institutions. In Western Culture, these beliefs include: the primacy of the economic system of State Capitalism; the ideologies of Caucasian Racial Superiority and Female Inferiority; the belief in Scientific Logical Positivism and Materialism (these beliefs are often masked as the development of a superior capacity to function intellectually in order to achieve long range goals rather than functioning emotionally to indulge short term personal satisfactions); and the indoctrination of their students in the dual doctrines of Nationalism and The Legitimization of the Resort to the Use of Military Violence to Achieve the Selfish Economic Goals The Elite of their Nation State.

“Ukraine: It’s Not What They’re Telling You”

On April 19, 2022, the former CIA analyst Ray McGovern spoke in a talk sponsored by the Social Justice Forum, Raleigh. Excerpts on this program focus on nuclear weapons, the Maidan Coup, and the Minsk Agreement.

McGovern’s CIA career began under President John F. Kennedy, and lasted through the presidency of George H.W. Bush. McGovern advised Henry Kissinger during the Richard Nixon administration. Under Ronald Reagan he chaired the National Intelligence Estimates and prepared the President’s Daily Brief.He received the Intelligence Commendation Medal at his retirement, returning it in 2006 to protest the CIA’s involvement in torture.

McGovern had been invited by the Social Justice Forum, Raleigh, to fill in what was not talked about in the media regarding Ukraine. There was a palpable desire to go beyond the prevailing discussion whether Putin is a satan or a saint and address the global consequences of any war conducted among nuclear power plants and in the shadow of nuclear weapons. Here is Ray McGovern’s comment on the question of how a cease fire could be achieved.

As the US Supreme Court indicates its likelihood of overturning the landmark decision enshrining women’s reproductive control on abortion, Roe v. Wade, women throughout the country are wrestling with strategies to ensure continued abilities to terminate unwanted pregnancies. This legal development has been anticipated. The drastic shift to the right of the Court has, for years, compelled abortion advocates to develop alternative strategies for women. If Roe v. Wade is in fact overturned, what will women do to maintain sovereignty over their own bodies? What will a post-Roe world mean for women’s reproductive health?

Can reframing reproductive rights influence how people understand the issues related to abortion? Would the phrase “reproductive justice” offer a more accurate view than previous frames such as “reproductive rights” or “rights to privacy?”. Global Covid Summit Speakers

Decrying “disastrous” COVID-19 public health policies, more than 17,000 physicians and medical scientists from around the world are calling on nations to lift health emergency declarations, restore scientific integrity and address “crimes against humanity.”

Among the signatories is Dr. Robert Malone, inventor of the mRNA technology behind the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines,who argues that the concerns raised in the declaration go beyond COVID-19, threatening constitutional rights.

The fourth declaration of the Global COVID Summit states that the COVID policies imposed over the past two years “are the culmination of a corrupt medical alliance of pharmaceutical, insurance, and healthcare institutions, along with the financial trusts which control them.”

“They have infiltrated our medical system at every level, and are protected and supported by a parallel alliance of big tech, media, academics and government agencies who profited from this orchestrated catastrophe,” the signatories declare.

The “corrupt alliance” continues “to advance unscientific claims by censoring data, and intimidating and firing doctors and scientists for simply publishing actual clinical results or treating their patients with proven, life-saving medicine.”

“These catastrophic decisions came at the expense of the innocent, who are forced to suffer health damage and death caused by intentionally withholding critical and time-sensitive treatments, or as a result of coerced genetic therapy injections, which are neither safe nor effective,” they say.

The 17,000 Global COVID Summit physicians and medical scientists “represent a much larger, enlightened global medical community who refuse to be compromised, and are united and willing to risk the wrath of the corrupt medical alliance to defend the health of their patients.”

They argue that restoring the people’s trust in medicine, “begins with free and open dialogue between physicians and medical scientists.”…

This program continues coverage of the Ukraine war with particular emphasis on the decisively important overlap between the institutions implicated in the creation of SARS CoV‑2 and the Covid-19 “op” and the Pentagon financing of the apparent biological warfare programs in Ukraine.

A remarkable aspect of the Journal’s coverage of the WHO’s resumption of inquiry into the origins of Covid-19 concerns a development that has been almost completely excised from the Western press: ” . . . . For months, China’s government has insisted both in public, and in private meetings with Dr. Tedros, that studies on the origins of the virus should now focus on other countries, such as Italy, or on a U.S. military bioresearch facility in Fort Detrick, Md. Dozens of governments aligned with China have sent Dr. Tedros letters in support of Beijing’s position, a person familiar with the letters said. . . .”

“Dozens of governments?” Which ones? This sounds like a major international dialogue/scandal.

WHY aren’t we hearing about it?

Pompeo State Department officials pursuing the lab-leak hypothesis were told to cover it up lest it shed light on U.S. government funding of research at the “Oswald Institute of Virology!”: ” . . . . In one State Department meeting, officials seeking to demand transparency from the Chinese government say they were explicitly told by colleagues not to explore the Wuhan Institute of Virology’s gain-of-function research, because it would bring unwelcome attention to U.S. government funding of it. . . . In an internal memo obtained by Vanity Fair, Thomas DiNanno, former acting assistant secretary of the State Department’s Bureau of Arms Control, Verification, and Compliance, wrote that. . . staff from two bureaus . . . ‘warned’ leaders within his bureau ‘not to pursue an investigation into the origin of COVID-19’ because it would ‘open a can of worms’ if it continued.’ . . . . As the group probed the lab-leak scenario, among other possibilities, its members were repeatedly advised not to open a ‘Pandora’s box,’ said four former State Department officials interviewed by Vanity Fair. . . .”

Although heavily spun–as would be expected from a Daily Mail article–this story not only has important implications for the war in Ukraine, but also resonates with our long series on “The Oswald Institute of Virology.”

We note that there are significant connections between the agency overseeing the Ukrainian projects and institutions implicated in the apparent “bio-skullduggery” surrounding the U.S. biological warfare gambit involving what Mr. Emory has termed “The Oswald Institute of Virology.” This is discussed in: FTR#‘s 1157–1159, 1170, 1183 through 1193, and 1215.

The essence of the “Oswald Institute of Virology” gambit concerns the DTRA and Pentagon funding of bat-borne coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, much of it through Peter Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance. Once the research was complete, it resulted in publication which included the genome of the bat viruses being researched. Using technology discussed below, the viruses were then synthesized from scratch and population groups were vectored with the same viral strains being researched by the WIV.

It turns out that Hunter Biden–a member of the board of directors at Burisma–was instrumental in securing funding for EcoHealth Alliance partner Metabiota, described in a screen shot of an e‑mail as being “to the DOA what Palantir is to CIA.”

Both EcoHealth Alliance and Metabiota have been involved with bat-borne coronavirus at the WIV.

Note that–” . . . . ‘His [Hunter Biden’s] father was the Vice President of the United States and in charge of relations with Ukraine.’ . . .”

Previously we have noted then Vice-President Joe Biden’s close relationship with U.S. Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt and Ukrainaian fascist Andriy Parubiy during the Maidan coup, which centered on false-flag sniper killings from buildings controlled by Svoboda (formerly the Social National Party of Ukraine, founded by Parubiy.)

Svoboda occupied key positions in the provisional post-Maidan Ukrainian government and wields significant influence to this day.

We have so far had 2 (two) new subscribers. So we can not be casual about the fundraising or the continuation of the program M-F nights 12-6am.

I would like to sincerely thank Stuart Landau for his willingness to serve as the Interim General Manager for KPFK for the last few months. He stepped up to the plate and hit the ground running – and for that, we are grateful!
I’m happy to let you know that on Monday, May 16, Gregg Lewis will be at KPFK serving as the Interim General Manager. Gregg comes to Pacifica with a rich history in public media, marketing, and fundraising. For over 25 years, he worked for KCRW and was the key strategist transforming the station into a world-renowned public-radio powerhouse, doubling their market share in less than a year and tripled the size of their sustaining monthly giving program. His extensive background in management, development, and programming will greatly benefit KPFK and the Pacifica network.
I trust all will welcome Gregg to the Pacifica family and hat’s off and many thanks to Stuart!

Congress next Tuesday will hold a hearing next on UFOs for the first time in more than 50 years.
The House Intelligence Committee’s subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence and Counterproliferation will hear testimony from two Pentagon officials, Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence & Security Ronald Moultrie and Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence Scott Bray, according to The New York Times. The Hill has reached out to the subcommittee for verification.
The officials will likely discuss a key government report last year that revealed 144 unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) encounters from 2004 to 2021.The committee’s chairman, André Carson (D-Ind.), tweeted that UFOs were becoming a “national security risk.”

In Consortium News, Joe Lauria presents Pentagon intelligence which, like the information presented by Bill Arkin in the Newsweek piece we covered in FTR#1237, lays out information fundamentally in contrast to what De Bretton-Gordon has voiced and which Joe Biden has taken at face value.

Reuters reported: ‘The United States has not yet seen any concrete indications of an imminent Russian chemical or biological weapons attack in Ukraine but is closely monitoring streams of intelligence for them, a senior U.S. defense official said.’ It quoted the Pentagon official as saying, ‘There’s no indication that there’s something imminent in that regard right now.’. . .”
Hamish de Bretton Gordon – the same figure who was warning the world about Russian forces releasing COVID-Ebola from a Ukrainian biolab – is now warning of impending Russian chemical attacks. And when it comes to making bogus claims about chemical attacks, de Bretton Gordon isn’t lacking in experience, having set the table for false-flag chemical attacks in Syria: “ . . . . Other forms of evidence were also collected on-the-ground by de Bretton-Gordon, and provided to a number of official investigations into chemical attacks. In at least one instance – an OPCW/UN Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM) probe into a purported chemical strike in Talmenes, April 2014 – videos submitted by CBRN Taskforce, a shady organization he founded in Aleppo, were found to show clear signs of falsification. . . .”

Joe Biden has taken the inflammatory, weaponized rhetoric and propaganda disseminated by the likes of Hamish de Bretton-Gordon and obedient media outlets at face value.
His uncritical embrace of this apocalyptic verbiage sets the stage for World War III.
Consummately ironic is Biden’s use of the terms “cynical” and “obscene” in his dismissal of the validity of Putin’s stated war goal of “De-Nazification.”
As will be detailed in forthcoming programs and posts, then Vice-President Joe Biden was involved with the networking through which the Svoboda organization and Andriy Parubiy effected the Maidan coup.
As the point man in U.S.-Ukrainian relations, Biden bears great responsibility for the ascent of the Nazi elements dominant in contemporary Ukraine…

The February 24th Russian invasion of Ukraine has rattled the world and has unleashed misery, death and destruction. What prompted Moscow’s attack? From their perspective, the expansion of NATO, a U.S.-led military alliance, up to Russia’s borders threatens their national security interests. It went against assurances given by Washington that that would not happen. Years ago, George Kennan, the much venerated State Department diplomat warned against NATO expansion. With great foresight he said, it “would be the most fateful error of American policy in the entire post-cold-war era. Such a decision may be expected to inflame the nationalistic, anti-Western and militaristic tendencies in Russian opinion; to have an adverse effect on the development of Russian democracy; to restore the atmosphere of the cold war to East-West relations, and to impel Russian foreign policy in directions decidedly not to our liking.”

Ray McGovern is a former Central Intelligence Agency officer. He was a CIA analyst from 1963 to 1990. In the 1980s he chaired National Intelligence Estimates and prepared The President’s Daily Brief. Today, he is active in the peace and justice movement and works for Tell the Word, a ministry of the inner-city Washington D.C. Church of the Saviour.

Noam Chomsky
Philosopher, cognitive scientist, linguist, political commentator, and lifelong activist, Chomsky is arguably the single most influential scholar in the world today. He is a sharp critic of American foreign policy and an anarchist who believes in creating a radically different, more just society. Chomsky is the author of more than 100 books, his most recent, Requiem for the American Dream: The 10 Principles of Concentration of Wealth & Power, was published in 2017. At the age of 93, knowing his voice still needs to be heard during this critical time, Chomsky hasn’t retreated from the world stage, contending, “We’re approaching the most dangerous point in human history and are now facing the prospect of the destruction of organized human life on Earth.”

Daniel Ellsberg
Daniel Ellsberg, known to many as the original whistleblower, in 1971 released the Pentagon Papers, a top-secret study of the US government’s decision-making in the Vietnam War. He was charged under the Espionage Act of 1917, along with charges of theft and conspiracy, carrying a maximum sentence of 115 years. Because of governmental misconduct, illegal evidence-gathering, and a stellar defense team, all charges against Ellsberg were dismissed on May 11, 1973. He is the author of four books, the latest published in 2017 entitled The Doomsday Machine: Confessions of a Nuclear War Planner. Ellsberg was awarded the 2006 Right Livelihood Award “…for putting peace and truth first, at considerable personal risk, and dedicating his life to inspiring others to follow his example.”

Cynthia Lazaroff
Cynthia Lazaroff is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and founder of Women Transforming Our Nuclear Legacy. She is the author of Dawn of a New Armageddon, a personal account of the Hawaii missile scare, published in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists on August 6, 2018. An expert on US-Russia relations, including on the history, geopolitics, military, cyber and escalating nuclear risks between these two countries, Cynthia has been engaged in Track II citizen diplomacy and mediation efforts with Russia since the early 1980s.

Richard Falk
Richard Falk is a professor emeritus of international law at Princeton University, and the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees. In 2008, the United Nations Human Rights Council appointed him to a six-year term as a UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967. He is the author or co-author of more than 20 books. His memoir, Public Intellectual: The Life of a Citizen Pilgrim, was published this last year. (THANKS TO BUZZ). This program continues our coverage of the Ukraine war. The title comes from the late, brilliant political comedian Mort Sahl’s 1976 autobiography Heartland. One of New Orleans DA Jim Garrison’s investigation of the assassination of the JFK .
A new piece by Bill Arkin in Newsweek presents information from Pentagon sources—speaking on condition of anonymity—that contradicts the MSM/Azov Zelensky/Biden claim that Russia is “indiscriminately bombing” civilians in Ukraine. That dynamic has been highlighted by the massive explosions observed at a mall in Kyiv. A mall that Russia claims was being used to store MLRS rocket launchers. It’s a claim confirmed by independent reporters, underscoring how much of the fighting in Ukraine’s cities is taking place because that’s where much of the military hardware is located.
The anonymous Pentagon officials Arkin spoke with said that Russia has actually been holding back from engaging in the indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas. According to these officials, we are seeing a highly limited urban bombing campaign primarily focused on military targets.
” . . . . ‘We need to understand Russia’s actual conduct,’ says a retired Air Force officer, a lawyer by training who has been involved in approving targets for U.S. fights in Iraq and Afghanistan. The officer currently works as an analyst with a large military contractor advising the Pentagon and was granted anonymity in order to speak candidly. In the analyst’s view . . . the Russian military has actually been showing restraint in its long-range attacks. . . . As of the past weekend, in 24 days of conflict, Russia has flown some 1,400 strike sorties and delivered almost 1,000 missiles (by contrast, the United States flew more sorties and delivered more weapons in the first day of the 2003 Iraq war). . . .”

With the Azov Regiment in charge of Ukrainian military operations in Mariupol, we should be braced for characteristic Azov behavior–bloody provocations or “False Flag” operations branded as Russian “War Crimes.’
Indeed “Azov” Zelensky’s presidential campaign was largely funded by Azov-financier Igor Kolomoisky, who also owns the TV network on which Zelensky
burnished his media chops. (The election monitors for his election were Azov’s National Druzhyna Militia.)
In FTR#1236, we noted that there are no longer any international reporters in Mariupol and that the information the world receives about what is going on there comes from the Azov Regiment.
Max Blumenthal has penned an excellent, and altogether necessary, expose of the Azov Regiment’s probable false-flag operation in Mariupol.
“ . . . . A closer look reveals that local residents in Mariupol had warned three days before the March 16 incident that the theater would be the site of a false flag attack launched by the openly neo-Nazi Azov Battalion, which controlled the building and the territory around it. Civilians that escaped the city through humanitarian corridors have testified that they were held by Azov as human shields in area, and that Azov fighters detonated parts of the theater as they retreated. Despite claims of a massive Russian airstrike that reduced the building to ashes, all civilians appear to have escaped with their lives. . . .”
Another Gray Zone article gives insight into how the Mariupol theater provocation becomes accepted fact in the Western media.
Ostensibly an objective media voice, presenting factual, unbiased coverage of the Ukraine war, the BBC has twined with British intelligence, employing an overt Ukrainian “nationalist’–Orysia Khimiak–to craft a propagandized account of the combat in Ukraine.
“Before serving as a fixer and reporter for the BBC in Ukraine, Orysia Khimiak handled PR for a start-up called Reface which created what the Washington Post called a ‘reality distorting app’ now serving as ‘a kind of Ukrainian war-messaging tool.’ . . . . As The Grayzone reported in February 2021, the British broadcaster’s non-profit arm, BBC Media Action, participated in a covert UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) program explicitly designed to ‘weaken Russia.’ As seen below, UK FCDO documents revealed that BBC Media Action proposed working through a private British contractor called Aktis to cultivate and grow pro-NATO media in conflict areas like the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, now the focal point of fighting between pro-Russian forces and the Ukrainian military. . . .The BBC’s secret information warfare initiative had turned the network into an arm of British intelligence, operating as an actor in a foreign conflict which its broadcast media arm was simultaneously claiming to cover in an objective manner. Now, the BBC has shed any pretense of objectivity by hiring an overtly nationalist Ukrainian public relations operative to shape its coverage of one of the most heavily disputed incidents in a war filled with cynical deceptions.”

The February 24th Russian invasion of Ukraine has rattled the world and has unleashed misery, death and destruction. What prompted Moscow’s attack? From their perspective, the expansion of NATO, a U.S.-led military alliance, up to Russia’s borders threatens their national security interests. It went against assurances given by Washington that that would not happen. Years ago, George Kennan, the much venerated State Department diplomat warned against NATO expansion. With great foresight he said, it “would be the most fateful error of American policy in the entire post-cold-war era. Such a decision may be expected to inflame the nationalistic, anti-Western and militaristic tendencies in Russian opinion; to have an adverse effect on the development of Russian democracy; to restore the atmosphere of the cold war to East-West relations, and to impel Russian foreign policy in directions decidedly not to our liking.”

Ray McGovern is a former Central Intelligence Agency officer. He was a CIA analyst from 1963 to 1990. In the 1980s he chaired National Intelligence Estimates and prepared The President’s Daily Brief.
