12-12:30 Katie Singer: "The Internet’s Footprint" Part Two of Two

By MariaNovember 12, 2019

Current efforts by the industry to roll out 5G cellular networks across the US heightened the interest in TUC radio programs. Especially what medical Doctor Devra Davis reported regarding tests commissioned by the Chicago Tribune in August 2019. Results showed that radio-frequency radiation exposure from the most popular smartphones measured higher than the legal safety limit. The way most users carry smartphones on their bodies and hold them close to their skull when they talk sends more radio-frequency radiation into their bodies than they know. What this may mean for our children is addressed by Katie Singer at the beginning of this talk. She also lists the most energy demanding parts of the internet and how much embodied energy exists in all aspects of production and distribution.

Katie Singer is the author of ‘An Electronic Silent Spring, Facing the Dangers and Creating Safe Limits;’ and the forthcoming ‘Our Web of Inconvenient Truths: The Internet, Energy Use, Toxic Waste and Climate Change – How on Earth Do We Shrink the Internet’s Footprint?’

She was interviewed at the Jan 25 to Feb. 3, 2019, conference of the the HIPPOCRATES HEALTH INSTITUTE by Ben Zeitlin.

In 2015 Katie Singer gave a talk at the Colorado Chautauqua in Boulder. She opened with a memorable account on how human beings, like all living beings including plants function by electro chemical signals. Even at rest all cells have measurable voltage. Ever since the beginning of the electric power grid about 140 years ago, we have nearly saturated our environment with electrical and magnetic frequency fields and amplitudes that do not exist in nature. With 5G the industry is planning to exponentially increase the exposure. Are we overpowering our innate life giving electro chemical signals that keep our heart pumping and our brains functioning with these new frequency fields? This program closes with a brief excerpt of Katie Singer’s talk in Boulder in April, 2015.

Host-Engineer is Buzz

12-1 Dave Emory, "For the Record #1091 - The Destabilization of China, Part 2

The program begins with an excerpt of AFA #37 (from the fall of 1992), dealing with the destabilization of the U.S.S.R. Relying on articles from Covert Action Information Bulletin #35, by Doug Henwood and Sean Gervasi, the program reviews both NSC 68 and what Gervasi terms “the full court press” strategy that was its ultimate fulfillment.

Using political action focused on promoting fractious nationalism among targeted ethnicities within the targeted nation and economic and diplomatic pressure to weaken that country, the strategy worked very well with the Soviet Union.

It is Mr. Emory’s considered opinion that the same strategy is being applied to China. Whether that strategy will be successful remains to be seen.

Next, we note the role of the National Endowment for Democracy (an example of Orwellian Newspeak if ever there was one) in continuing our examination of the turmoil in Hong Kong. NED was deeply involved in the destabilization of the U.S.S.R. We examined NED’s role in projecting Nazi and fascist elements back into Lithuania in AFA #37, as well as FTR #858.

In this article we note: the involvement of the NED with the leading individuals and institutions involved with the turmoil in Hong Kong; the networking between other U.S. “soft-power” intelligence fronts with the Hong Kong activists; U.S. “Alt-right” involvement with the Hong Kong unrest; the meeting of a U.S. diplomat with Hong Kong activists; the networking between top Trump administration officials and the Hong Kong activists; the use of anti-Chinese slurs dating to the fighting between Japan and China prior to, and during, World War II; the use of what–if it were used by people acting in the U.S.–rioting and terrorism by the crowds in Hong Kong; the violence used in Hong Kong includes throwing gasoline bombs at the police, setting fire to subway stations, attacking passers-by and assaulting counter-protesters.

1-2 Noam Chomsky –'Threats to Peace & the Planet' Part 2

Program #CHON257. Recorded in Tucson, AZ on November 4, 2019.

Why are so many people all over the world out in the streets demanding change? What are the root causes of revolt? What about U.S. Syria policy and the betrayal of the Kurds? And BDS and Palestine? How do we overcome sectarian differences? Why are Americans so afraid? Eco-disaster and nuclear war threaten human existence. The former garners some attention because of the surge in youth-led activism but the latter is out of sight even though the dangers are escalating. The U.S. pulling out of the INF ballistic missile treaty and new Pentagon hypersonic weapons increase the possibility of catastrophe. What about impeachment and the 2020 election? These are just some of the topics Noam Chomsky talks about in this exclusive two-part program. 2CDs.

Interviewed by David Barsamian.

Noam Chomsky, by any measure, has led a most extraordinary life. In one index he is ranked as the eighth most cited person in history, right up there with Aristotle, Shakespeare, Marx, Plato and Freud. The legendary MIT professor is a major contributor to 21st century linguistics. In addition to his pioneering work in that field he has been a leading voice for peace and social justice for many decades. Chris Hedges says he is “America’s greatest intellectual” who “makes the powerful, as well as their liberal apologists, deeply uncomfortable.” He is Institute Professor (emeritus) in the Department of Linguistics and Philosophy at MIT and Laureate Professor of Linguistics and Haury Chair in the Program in Environment and Social Justice at the University of Arizona. At 90, he still gives lectures all over the world. He is the author of scores of books, including ‘Propaganda & the Public Mind,’ ‘How the World Works,’ ‘Power Systems and Global Discontents’ with David Barsamian.

2:30-3:30 Malcolm X, “The Ballot or the Bullet”

Recorded in Detroit, MI on April 12, 1964.

Malcolm X is a singular figure in African-American history. He led an extraordinary life. He was born in an impoverished family in Omaha, NE on May 19, 1925. He recalled being “dizzy” with hunger. He said, “My whole life has been a chronology of changes.” Indeed it was. He went through a remarkable series of transformations from being a street hustler known as Detroit Red to going to jail, to converting to Islam then breaking with Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad and becoming an independent voice for black dignity, self-reliance, and economic independence. Malcolm challenged the racist white power structure and the blacks who went along with it. He was only 39 years old when he was assassinated on February 21, 1965 in New York. Maya Angelou said of him, “His aura was too bright.” He had a charismatic presence and a radiant smile. And he was an electrifying orator. At his funeral, Ossie Davis eulogized him as our “prince. Our own black shining prince.” Today, Malcolm’s autobiography continues to be read and his words continue to inspire.

Malcolm X, born Malcolm Little, also known as El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz, was a prominent human rights activist. To his admirers he was a courageous advocate for the rights of blacks, a man who indicted white America in the harshest terms for its crimes against black Americans; detractors accused him of preaching racism and violence. He has been called one of the greatest and most influential African Americans in history. In February 1965, shortly after repudiating the Nation of Islam, he was assassinated by three of its members. ‘The Autobiography of Malcolm X,’ published shortly after his death, is considered one of the most influential nonfiction books of the 20th century. 12-12:30 Katie Singer: The Internet’s Footprint Part ONE of TWO

Katie Singer is the author of “An Electronic Silent Spring, Facing the Dangers and Creating Safe Limits”; and the forthcoming “Our Web of Inconvenient Truths: The Internet, Energy Use, Toxic Waste and Climate Change – How on Earth Do We Shrink the Internet’s Footprint?”

She is a consultant with the EMR Policy Institute, and presented her concerns about the Internet’s footprint at the 2018 UN Forum on Science, Technology & Innovation and on a January, 2019, panel with climatologist Dr. Jim Hansen. She was interviewed at the Jan 25 to Feb. 3, 2019, conference of the the Hippocrates Health Institute by Ben Zeitlin. In her first book, The Electronic Silent Spring, Katie Singer wrote on EMR’s health effects. She told me that now her focus is on the Internet’s energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, toxic waste and worker hazards and surveillance.

Across the United States, telecom providers have begun mapping their plans to deploy 5G microwave-emitting cellular sites throughout neighborhoods. Katie Singer says that: “Every person deserves to be informed about what’s happening and what’s within every household’s ability to control. How did we get to 5G? Why do we need it? How will it affect our health? How (or can) we prevent it?” Ben Zeitlin is asking Katie Singer some of these questions for RealTruthTalks.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT, NOVEMBER 20

12-1 Dave Emory, "For the Record #1090 - Fascism: 2019 World Tour, Part 5 (Destabilizing China)"

We begin with brief review of the Falun Gong cult and its connections. Part of a constellation of organizations and individuals working with former Trump chief of staff Steve Bannon to neutralize China, Falun Gong has garnered the support of CIA derivative Broadcasting Board of Governors in the effort.

The Falun Gong teaches that: post menopausal women can regain menstruation, considered mandatory for spiritual evolution; gays are demonized; mixed race people are demonized; cult members are discouraged from seeking modern medical treatment; space aliens are inhabiting human bodies and are responsible for modern technology such as airplanes and computers; tiny beings are said to be invading human bodies and causing “bad karma;” master Li Hongzhi knows the secrets of the universe; master Li Hongzhi can levitate and walk through walls; master Li Hongzhi can install a physical “Falun”–swastika–in the abdomen of followers which revolves in various directions; Falun Gong teaching demonizes feminists and popular music; there will be a “Judgement Day” on which communists and others deemed unworthy by master Li Hongzhi will be neutralized.

Falun Gong–largely through its Epoch Times newspaper–has established a major social media presence and is a key ally of President Trump’s re-election effort: “. . . . In April, at the height of its ad spending, videos from the Epoch Media Group, which includes The Epoch Times and digital video outlet New Tang Dynasty, or NTD, combined for around 3 billion views on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, ranking 11th among all video creators across platforms and outranking every other traditional news publisher, according to data from the social media analytics company Tubular. That engagement has made The Epoch Times a favorite of the Trump family and a key component of the president’s re-election campaign.

Program Highlights Include: The enormous amount of money under control of Falun Gong; similarities to the Unification Church; the anti-communist dogma of the cult (again, not unlike the Unification Church); the role of the internet and social media–Facebook, in particular–in the growth of Falun Gong’s operations; the spin put by NBC on Falun Gong’s beliefs.

He is the author of scores of books, including 'Propaganda & the Public Mind,' 'How the World Works,' 'Power Systems and Global Discontents' with David Barsamian.

BEHIND THE SCENES

For more than you want to know about Pacifica rumblings: www.pacificainexile.org

Letter from GM Anyel Fields to National Board:

As General Manager at KPFK, I am acutely aware of the tumultuous situation at WBAI and Pacifica in general, and that you are in the midst of making decisions relating to the management of WBAI and Pacifica in general. I'm writing to you on my behalf and from my perspective as the General Manager of KPFK.

I want you to know that before September 7th, when the change at WBAI happened, John had made a call to me and asked if KPFK would be willing to cover WBAI's payroll and explained in more detail the unstable financial situation at our sister station. This was the first time I have ever heard of an Executive Director engaging with a GM, rather than just poaching KPFK's accounts to make up for a shortfall at the New York station. This "poaching method" has been frustrating at KPFK to many of its members, staff, and volunteers. There have been some cases it has exacerbated our financial circumstances for the worst.

We discussed KPFKs own tumultuous set of circumstances, and out of respect for our member's contributions, our slim ability to make one of the highest monthly central service payments and help cover WBAI's payroll, it would compromise our ability to pay our staff. It was respectful of him to have a discussion with me about the decision. We heard each other out, and he respected my decision that KPFK could not afford to send money to WBAI, considering the need to pay the payroll and protect the job security here at KPFK. We didn't have the money to spare.

Just within my tenure of one year and ten months, I have worked with four Interim Executive Directors and one Executive Director. Of the four John Vernile has most clearly demonstrated a potential for leading Pacifica through the choppy waters, the Foundation has been meandering in for some time. He has also been the most engaging leader with a willingness to work with me and those that work for KPFK, has offered his support to engage with major donors, and foundations.

John got acclimated with Pacifica swiftly, both visiting here and other stations in person and talking extensively with the GMs regularly. He came, understanding the values of our Foundation. With time I know that John can further embody the mission and represent its staff, volunteers, and members and serve its members in a greater capacity, developing and conveying the vision of Pacifica that has been needed to help provide a blueprint to our future.

It is exceptional and critical to have someone that has current knowledge of FCC rules and regulations, has real-world experience in media across all industries, fundraising, building, and managing teams across various markets.

During his visit to LA, Vernile met with Mark Torres and me to discuss a themed fundraiser and timeline for the national fundraiser that would help to pay off the big loan and the audits. In my experience of 10 years plus at KPFK, this was first a for an iED to take a proactive and engaging role in fundraising at the station level.

On September 6th, after the initial conversation, we came up with a draft of "70 Years on the Air Anniversary Week" tentatively scheduled for (12/26/19 to 1/1/20). The broadcast was to include special programming with strong year-end fundraising appeals celebrating the most excellent of Pacifica's programs, content, and the best of the Pacifica Archives. Most of the regular programming would remain intact and would include messaging in alignment with the year-end theme. These efforts were to include a different way of fundraising other than the usual hardline pitching.

We have been suffering from increasing days of fund drives, relying on an old model of fundraising with old tools. John has been proactive in engaging with me to provide a means of solving one of our most significant challenges with fundraising, by securing Allegienaces services, the tools/ platform for us to move away from premium driven fundraising to one of engagement that is in tune with Pacifica's mission, values and most of the Public Media industry.

Some of the fundraising discussions included producing documentaries (video and audio) and seizing opportunities to be Executive Producers to other projects produced by our partners, which may consist of licensing recordings from the Pacifica Archives. The documentaries would be used on the air and digital platforms and could be used as premiums that have the Pacifica brand. For instance, we are now in conversation with the producer of the award-winning documentary "Let My People Vote" to produce another documentary covering the issues people are facing today in Selma. The documentary would include licensed material from the Pacifica Archives.

We understand many don't want to risk the Pacicifca status quo and maintaining the status quo may feel suitable for some, but this comes at the risk of keeping Pacifica at less than its potential. The world is rapidly changing, and no longer is the Foundation, the only place people can get information, enlightenment, and encouragement to forge progressive social change.

John has expressed nothing less than wanting to move KPFK and all of Pacifica forward, his actions have also illustrated that (although the result of his attempting to move things forward at WBAI, although well-meaning, didn't work out very well). From the beginning of his tenure, John immediately began to engage with me to understand KPFK, its role, and its value in the network. John made an effort to have me fly to Berkely to meet and talk with Quincy so that I had the opportunity to meet with him and Quincy early in his tenure to lay the groundwork of a partnership whose intentions were to reach both coasts. Again—a first for both Quincy and me to have the iED make the important effort to get us together in order to really build a sense of teamwork – which is particularly helpful because we, as managers often feel very alone, being both the spokesperson and the person whose job it is to listen to our public, and to our staff, so feeling part of a team has been an important result of Vernile's short tenure here.

He has actively helped instill confidence where it has been wavering with KPFK's donors, staff, and volunteers. By providing a plan with options to strengthen WBAI, while not perfect, offers an opportunity for vested parties to come together to build something in the wake of wounded WBAI.

Most may not understand what a toll it takes in being a General Manager in Pacifica. We carry the burdens of our respective stations, strive to exceed the publics' expectations, deal with the politics of our boards, while more often than not facing challenges unlike any other General Manager at any other media organization. It takes a toll in so many ways; most of all, it does have an impact on our personal lives. John has been invaluable to me and KPFK in being a soundboard, a guide who routinely offers practical support in leading and supporting the staff. His experience and understanding are valuable in helping to improve fundraising and programming within the Pacifica while upholding our values.

Where there is no vision, Pacifica will continue to perish. With uncertainty, Pacifica will squander the opportunities of greater support from its members. Without tolerance, how can Pacifica best uphold its values and carry out its mission? To myself, many of the listeners and members Pacifica symbolizes the possibilities of social change in these times, an organization that promotes tolerance of diverse people, the architects of bridges between those diverse people.

I urge the PNB to allow him to work with us through these times. The prudent consider its steps, which he has taken the limited time to determine what those next steps should be. To do so otherwise is to be intolerant of what is necessary for Pacifica. It has been so productive having an experienced, knowledgeable, competent leader within our organization who understands fundraising, relationship building, and, most of all, the media industries.

Don't keep Pacifica in a perpetual civil war state. It is terrible for our bottom line; it is an impedance to us carrying out our mission serving the people of our respective communities.

12-1 Gary Null Show ‘The Vaccine Deep State’

Richard Gale and Gary Null PhD

Progressive Radio Network, November 7, 2019

Who coined the term anti-vaccine or anti-vaxx? The derogatory term "anti-vaxxer," which has been championed by the media and the medical industry's experts who function as the media's talking heads, are merely people who question the efficacy and safety of a heavy-loaded vaccination schedule for children. And this does not represent a small group of dissident individuals and parents. Rather it represents hundreds of thousands, or perhaps millions, of people in the US alone.

We might consider mainstream news sources, such as the New York Times, once a highly respected newspaper, now becoming a propaganda vehicle for "manufacturing consent". In his book Public Opinion, political journalist Walter Lippmann, coined the expression "the manufacture of consent," which was later further elaborated upon by Noam Chomsky in his critically acclaimed book Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media published in 1988. Chomsky defines the mass corporate media as "effective and powerful ideological institutions that carry out a system-supportive propaganda function, by reliance on market forces, internalized assumptions and self-censorship, and without overt coercion." Chomsky's insights remain every bit as relevant today for understanding the hidden motivations in today's media to promulgate the official medical establishment's vaccine doctrine and to demonize its opponents as they were over three decades ago for manufacturing consent to get Americans' support behind the Cold War.

The media refuses to accept that those who have been vaccine damaged, or who have children who will suffer for the remainder of their lives from adverse vaccine events, have a legitimate right to speak their truth rather than being labeled as hysterical or crazy. All of these individuals and parents were pro-vaccine until they or their child became vaccine-injured. Similarly we saw the New York Times manufacturing consent for accepting falsehoods that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction. And this was true across the mainstream outlets including the Washington Post, Fox, MSNBC, CNN and others. The Times fabricated that rationale to the public on behalf of the neo-cons in the Bush administration who were determined to have a war. None of the journalists publishing these lies have taken responsibility nor lost a night's sleep because their fakery led to the death of millions.

Wikipedia’s Hate Campaign Against Ayurveda

Richard Gale and Gary Null PhD

Alongside Traditional Chinese Medicine, Indian Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest medical systems still widely accepted and practiced today. It has managed to thrive and flourish for at least three millennia and has built up an enormous body of diagnostic methods and treatments for a wide variety of mild to life-threatening illnesses and diseases. Evidence-based medicine has yet to fully explore its riches. Unlike modern conventional medicine that dominates our healthcare, Ayurveda is a “whole” medical system that goes beyond standard disease management, but also incorporates sophisticated ways sustain health, prevent physical disorders as well as balance the body and mind to promote wellness.

We might look at the entry for Ayurveda in a real encyclopedia, the Encyclopedia Britannica. The Britannica notes that approximately 500 million Indians rely upon Ayurveda for their health care. In 1971, the Indian government established standards for Ayurveda education while recognizing the invaluable contributions this ancient medical system has made to prevent and treat a wide variety of diseases. According to statistics recorded by the Association of Ayurvedic Physicians in India, the nation’s largest Ayurveda organization, India is now home to about 250 Ayurvedia colleges and teaching institutions and graduate approximately 12,000 doctors annually. The Association is affiliated with the medical school at Hindu Benares University in Varanasi, often regarded as India’s equivalent to Oxford. It is estimated that across the country, there are nearly 450,000 registered Ayurvedic practitioners.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT, NOVEMBER 13

12-1 Dave Emory, "For the Record #1089 - Fascism: 2019 World Tour, Part 4 (Goose Hopping in Hong Kong with Pepe the Frog)"

Continuing our look at global fascism, we visit Hong Kong and (by extension) China, where an intelligence community destabilization effort is underway. That effort is utilizing Islamic fascists in the Uighur community in Xinjiang Province and the Falun Gong, a fascist mind control cult that has developed close operational links with the Trump administration, Steve Bannon and the Broadcasting Board of Governors (a CIA “derivative.”)

Beginning our sojourn in Hong Kong, we review the prevalence of the Pepe the Frog icon in the Hong Kong protests. “The New York Times’ ” disclaimer that the protesters are not “alt-right” should be seen in perspective.

With Steve Bannon at the epicenter of the anti-China movement, Pepe’s presence in Hong Kong is not surprising.

Note Bannon and company’s networking with the Falun Gong cult.

In our long series predicated on Yasha Levine’s “Surveillance Valley,” we noted the Internet Freedom movement and its fundamental position as part of the intelligence community’s “soft power” propaganda and regime change arsenal.

Yasha Levine sums up the fundamental contradictions inherent in this dynamic: ” . . . . If you stepped back to survey the scene, the entire landscape of this new Internet Freedom privacy movement looked absurd. Cold War-era organizations spun off from the CIA now funding the global movement against government surveillance? Google and Facebook, companies that ran private surveillance networks and worked hand in hand with the NSA, deploying government-funded privacy tech to protect their users from government surveillance? Privacy activists working with Silicon Valley and the US government to fight government surveillance—and with the support of Edward Snowden himself? . . . .”

In China, Falun Gong is among the recipients of Broadcasting Board of Governors money. Recall that the BBG is a CIA “derivative.”: ” . . . .It also funded several small outfits run by practitioners of Falun gong, a controversial Chinese anticommunist cult banned in China whose leader believes that humans are being corrupted by aliens from other dimensions and that people of mixed blood are subhumans and unfit for salvation. . . . ”

After excerpting a puff piece that lionizes Falun Gong in their struggles with the Chinese, we highlight the beliefs of the organization.

We conclude with part of an article which will be presented and analyzed at greater length in our next program.

That engagement has made The Epoch Times a favorite of the Trump family and a key component of the president’s re-election campaign

1-2 Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, “The Power of Social Movements”

Recorded in Seattle, WA on September 5, 2019.

One of the techniques of ruling class control is to isolate people from one another. “Look out for yourself,” is the constant drumbeat. We are reduced to self-centered consumers not engaged citizens. Saul Alinsky suggests a different path. In his Rules for Radicals he said, “Change comes from power, and power comes from organization. In order to act, people must get together.” And that is happening. Popular movements such as Black Lives Matter, #MeToo, Extinction Rebellion and Sunrise are shaking up the establishment. Finding kindred spirits and working collectively with allies not only has broader positive political consequences but helps to overcome negativity and feelings of loneliness and despair. You look in the mirror and you feel good about yourself. History has shown social movements can have a huge societal impact.

BEHIND THE SCENES
(From our esteemed General Manager Anyel Z. Fields -  gm@kpfk.org  )

Dear Programmers and Staff,

KPFK's vital community services we provide will not survive without decisive leadership, clear-eyed approach to sound financial management, revenue generation, and operational improvements. Most importantly, we can't do it without the support of YOU, our listeners, volunteers, staff and donors. Some listeners have asked, "Why do you have so many fund drives"? Please read below about the positive steps we’ve taken.

Over the past two years, we have made tremendous strides in:
  • In the recent past, we did not have proper financial management and support. We do now as a result of the help we received from the National Education Telecom Association (NETA), including assistance with financial management, budget process, financial reports, payroll, audits, board presentations, CPB reports, and annual filings.
  • Some recent improvements to get our financial house in order: We've completed our 2017 audits, and we are in the final throws of completing our 2018 audits. This will open us up to applying for more grants and foundational funding, as part of our long-term financial plan.
  • The financial dispute between the Pacifica Foundation and the Empire State Realty Trust for unpaid leasing costs, which our sister station WBAI incurred, has been settled.
  • This past summer, KPFK finished paying off numerous other old debts going back several years.
  • KPFK has made improvements with our employee relations and with SAG-AFTRA, the union that represents most KPFK employees.

We've made numerous improvements to our operations which include:
  • Providing support and development for our volunteer producers and programmers.
  • This past year we expanded our Speaker Series and Special Events, including presentations from Tom Hartman, Dr. Gerald Horne, Chris Hedges, Stephanie Miller, White Sun, Danny Sheehan, Halloween Celebration and, we hosted a Walk-a-Thon to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
  • We hosted a memorable 60th Anniversary Gala, attended by hundreds of supporters, netting $41k and raising the profile of KPFK in Los Angeles.
  • The light fixtures in our building have been retrofitted with more energy-efficient ones, reducing the energy demands, and monthly expenses for the lights, by approximately 40%. We've also replaced the HVAC system at the transmitter site reducing energy demands at the site and improving our temperature controls that will help increase the life of the transmitter.
  • We've produced more content for our digital platforms. Check out our showcase of videos we've produced that are made available on our Vimeo Channel and our Videos On Demand
  • We continue to foster and nurture partnerships with community organizations such as the Skirball Cultural Center, Poor Peoples Campaign, Plastic Pollution Coalition, the Sunrise Movement, Collective Remake, Pasadena Playhouse, the LA Progressive, and many more.
  • This fall we will be re-introducing our news headlines during weekday afternoons 1 through 3 pm. We look forward to expanding our local news coverage as we secure special funding and resources for our news department.

In addition to the above, we are now about to undertake a major technological overhaul that will significantly improve our donor's experience. We know that we cannot provide an independent public media platform without you and our relationship with you is essential for us to carry out our mission. For the past several years, KPFK has been working with a donor/ member system that lacks the features and tools we need to perform at modern efficiency and effectiveness.

In Spring of 2020, we will have completed the installation of new tools which will help us reduce tedious day-to-day administrative tasks, thereby significantly improving our Membership Department's efficiency. We will then be able to provide a "member portal" so that you can access your donor history and stay informed about station happenings as a member of KPFK and Pacifica. Most importantly, we will be able to free up our administrative staff so that we can devote more time to advancing our mission and our relationships with donors like you.

KPFK now exists in a world in severe crisis. We are determined to maximize our resources so we can better help people survive and become more empowered to forge the changes necessary for a saner and more progressive world. I hope you will stay with us and support us as we continue making improvements and continue bringing you the unique programming you've come to expect from us. If you will continue to support us, together we will not only keep KPFK on the air and more useful than ever, we will also help bring about a better world for all.

Sincerely,

Anyel Z. Fields

In India, Narendra Modi’s Hindutva fascist regime has embraced the anti-immigrant xenophobia central to the growth and success of many fascist movements worldwide.

Politicians from Modi’s BJP have hailed Gandhi’s assassin as a “patriot.” (The RSS–Hindutva fascist parent organization of the BJP–was the executive force directing the murder of Gandhi.)

In the U.S. Representative Ro Khanna (DCA) has taken the point in rejecting and combatting Hindutva fascism in this country.

Looking ahead to our next program, the racist symbol Pepe the Frog has been adopted by the protesters in Hong Kong.

Steve Bannon is at the center of the anti-China movement, suggesting that the Pepe the Frog presence in Hong Kong may not be happenstance.
