This broadcast recaps material from previous programs, underscoring key points of information from current developments.
Last week, we opened our program with an article from Consortium News about some alarming developments in Ukraine-a piece of legislation approved by the Rada (the Ukrainian parliament) that might augur World War III.
One of the few media outlets that has covered the return to power of the OUN/B's successor fascist organizations in Ukraine, Consortium News was founded and headed by Robert Parry.
Parry passed away last weekend.
Mr. Emory posted the following comment on the Consortium News article about Robert's passing:
A very, very sad occasion. It was my privilege to have interviewed Robert a number of times over the years, including an interview-scheduled days before-that took place on the day he learned of Gary Webb's death.
It was also my privilege to have used many articles from Consortium News in my weekly broadcasts, including, and especially, his reportage about the return to power of the OUN/B successor organizations in Ukraine.
Very few have manifested the courage and integrity to report honestly on those events.
Now, there will be fewer.
Rest in peace, Robert.
Next, we return to the subject of Peter Thiel, of "Team Trump," Facebook and Palantir.
We have covered Peter Thiel in numerous programs, beginning with our warning about him in FTR #718.
Some of the points we have made about him include:
1.-His family background in the Frankfurt (Germany) chemical business. Probably I.G. Farben/Bormann, in that context.
2.-His primary role in Palantir, apparently the maker of the PRISM software at the epicenter of L'Affaire Snowden.
3.-His role as the primary financier of Ron Paul's super PAC. (Paul is an unabashed white supremacist, joined at the hip with David Duke and the neo-4.-Confederate movement. He was the Presidential candidate of choice for Eddie "The Friendly Spook" Snowden and Julian Assange.)
4.-Thiel's networking with movers and shakers from In-Q-Tel, the CIA's high-tech venture capital firm.
5.-Thiel's active anti-immigrant stance.
6.-Thiel's seminal networking with other tech titans and venture capital firms, including some with political and historical tributaries leading back to the apartheid regime in South Africa.
With Thiel among the candidates to head Trump's President's Intelligence Advisory Board, we note that his apocalyptic, anti-Enlightenment ideology draws on, among other influences, Carl Schmitt. Arguably the prime mover behind the German Conservative Revolution, Schmitt was also: ". . . . a Nazi and the Third Reich's preeminent legal theorist. For Thiel, Schmitt is an inspiring throwback to a pre-Enlightenment age, who exalts struggle and insists that the discovery of enemies is the foundation of politics. . ."
There has been a fair amount of buzz about the release of additional, previously classified, documents about the assassination of President Kennedy.
An interesting document came to light in the recent release of files relating to the assassination of JFK. Jack Ruby told an FBI informant to "watch the fireworks" in Dealey Plaza that day.
"Jack Ruby, the man who eventually shot Lee Harvey Oswald, told an FBI informant to 'watch the fireworks' on the day President John F. Kennedy was killed, according to new records the National Archives released Friday. . . . 'The informant stated that on the morning of the assassination, Ruby contacted him and asked if he would 'like to watch the fireworks," an FBI record dated April 6, 1977, says. 'He was with Jack Ruby and standing at the corner of the Postal Annex Building facing the Texas School Book Depository Building at the time of the shooting. . . ."
This might be evaluated against the background of FTR #963, relating-among other things-a reading of Jack Ruby's Warren Commission testimony. (A reading of Ruby's testimony is re-broadcast in this program.)
When interviewed by the Warren Commission, Jack Ruby indicated that he had been part of a conspiracy to kill Kennedy and that he feared for his life. The Warren Commission turned a deaf ear to his desire to go to Washington and "spill the beans."
Gerald Ford (who succeeded Nixon as President and pardoned him of all crimes committed), Leon Jaworski (a Warren Commission counsel who was a director of a CIA domestic funding conduit and who was selected by Nixon to be Watergate Special Prosecutor) and Arlen Specter (another Warren Commission counsel who was Nixon's first choice as his personal defense attorney in the Watergate affair) were present at Ruby's de facto confession.
Warren Commission Counsel J. Lee Rankin is also present at this interview. Nixon first selected J. Lee Rankin to serve as Watergate Special Prosecutor. Rankin was subsequently tabbed to review the Watergate tapes and determine which would be released. Rankin was the Warren Commission's liaison between the commission and both the CIA and the FBI. Rankin was a key proponent of the so-called "Magic Bullet Theory."
We conclude with discussion of another aspect of the JFK assassination.
Jane Mayer's Dark Money has received considerable discussion and media play over the last couple of years. In past discussion of the Koch family, we noted that patriarch Fred Koch worked with Hitler building one of Nazi Germany's most important refineries-one capable of refining the high-octane fuel needed by fighter planes.
In addition, we noted that Fred Koch was one of the first members of the John Birch Society.
Mayer notes that Fred Koch helped finance ads in the wake of the JFK assassination that pinned responsibility for the crime on the Soviet Union-one of the primary levels of disinformation.
" . . . . In a hasty turnabout, soon after the assassination, Fred Koch took out full-page ads in The New York Times and The Washington Post, mourning JFK. The ads advanced the conspiracy theory that JFK's assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, had acted as part of a Communist plot. The Communists wouldn't "rest on this success," the ads warned. In the corner was a tear-out order form, directing the public to sign up for John Birch Society mailings. . . ."

12-1 Dave Emory, "For the Record #993 - Update on Ukraine (Preparations for WW III?)
Highlighting recent, alarming aspects of the Ukraine crisis, the broadcast underscores how past and present may signal the beginning of World War III in a manner not unlike how fractious events in the Balkans triggered the First World War.
With Ukraine now receiving U.S. arms, including modified stinger anti-aircraft missiles, the Nazi “punisher” battalions in that country’s East may be in a position to trigger one or more provocations that could lead to conflict between nuclear-armed Russia, NATO and the U.S.
Since the Donbass militias have no air force, the stingers would appear to be deployed in the event of a wider, Ukraine/Russia war.
Nazi elements active in the Maidan coup spawned the Azov and other “punisher” units. With more information surfacing that indicates that the Maidan sniper shootings were a provocation-derived event, the possibility that Svoboda and Pravy Sektor-linked elements could drive developments in the Donbass toward World War III is one that deserves more attention than it will receive.
A frightening development, virtually unreported in the U.S., concerns unilateral moves by the Poroshenko government to move away from the Minsk peace plan and to rebrand the conflict in Eastern Ukraine as “occupation” by an “aggressor” Russia.
This appears to pave the way for a wider, deeper conflict which could, ultimately, draw in the U.S. and NATO: ” . . . . According to [Dmitri] Kiselyov, the new law, which awaits Poroshenko’s signature, makes preparations for war and includes language indicating a bellicose new approach to the conflict. Military headquarters are established to coordinate the operation to be waged in Donbass. While up until now the self-declared republics of Donetsk and Lugansk were considered under the Minsk Accords as negotiating parties, now there are only ‘occupation administrations’ of the Russian Federation on these territories, with Russia identified as an ‘aggressor.’ . . . .”
The danger of Poroshenko seeking to play the “war card” to distract from Urkaine’s dire economic circumstances and his own failed government are real. Conflict with Russia could also deflect from Trump’s and the GOP’s failures at home: ” . . . . On the economic front, the European Union has refused to extend 600 million euros of credit to Ukraine due to corruption. The International Monetary Fund recently refused a tranche of $800 million over failure to introduce reforms. Meanwhile, in 2019 Ukraine is due to start repaying earlier loans. This will come to $14 billion a year, which amounts to half the state budget of Ukraine.
Due to dire economic conditions, Poroshenko and other government officials in Kiev have become deeply unpopular, and with diminished chances for electoral success may see war as politically advantageous. . . .”
The Trump administration just approved the sale of sniper rifles and, more significantly, anti-tank Javelin missiles to Ukraine. This should be evaluated against the background of the recent moves by Kiev (increasing the danger for an escalated conflict) as well as the activities of Kurt Volker, the “ex”-CIA officer, NATO functionary, George W. Bush State Department official and Atlantic Councicl Senior advisor serving as the Trump administration’s point-man in Ukraine.
Might anti-aircraft missiles be next? As the article below notes, the Donbass separatists don’t actually have an air force, so it would be a curious decision to start sending them anti-aircraft weapons. ” . . . . The proposed transfer — which also would include antiaircraft arms that would be defined as defensive weaponry — comes as fighting between Ukrainian troops and Russian-backed separatists. . . . The utility of antiaircraft weaponry, for example, is unclear, as the Russian-backed rebel army has no air force. The war is fought along a line of trenches that has not moved much since February 2015. . . .”
According to a report back in June, the Pentagon recently modified shoulder-fired stinger missiles to shoot small down drones that are difficult for regular Stinger missiles to hit. It’s not at all inconceivable that the anti-aircraft weapons the Pentagon and State Department have in mind are those Stinger missiles, modified for the purpose of shooting down separatist drones.
Also keep in mind that the shoulder-launched stringer missiles are among the weapons that terrorists would love to obtain and the Ukrainian troops getting trained on these systems may include the neo-Nazis fighting in Ukraine’s army getting trained by US military advisors like the Azov batallion. ” . . . . The American training at the Yavoriv base in western Ukraine is focused on forging a disciplined, professional military from the mix of volunteer groups that first fought the Russian incursion, rather than placing bets on any high-tech weapons systems. . . .”
When you read that, remember that the “mix of volunteers groups” includes neo-Nazis, including the Azov Battalion.
In other words, if Stinger missiles really are part of the military package, and just not yet announced, those little nightmares could easily end up in neo-Nazi hands and the US military could even be the ones training them on how to use them. We’ll see if that’s how it plays out, but we can’t rule it out...

The juvenile justice system is off the rails. It is in urgent need of reform. The U.S. incarcerates roughly 2 million children every year, even though 95 percent of them have not been convicted of a violent crime. Too many of them are held in adult facilities. The systemic problems range from racism to brutality and extreme sentencing. Thousands of kids, many of them suffering from trauma come of age behind bars. Two-thirds of them have mental health issues. They are subject to physical and sexual assault. Children are up to 36 times more likely to commit suicide after being housed in an adult jail or prison than children incarcerated in juvenile facilities. The Equal Justice Initiative says confinement of children in adult facilities is indefensible, cruel and unusual punishment and should be banned.

Highlighting recent, alarming aspects of the Ukraine crisis, the broadcast underscores how past and present may signal the beginning of World War III in a manner not unlike how fractious events in the Balkans triggered the First World War.
With Ukraine now receiving U.S. arms, including modified stinger anti-aircraft missiles, the Nazi “punisher” battalions in that country’s East may be in a position to trigger one or more provocations that could lead to conflict between nuclear-armed Russia, NATO and the U.S.
Since the Donbass militias have no air force, the stingers would appear to be deployed in the event of a wider, Ukraine/Russia war.
Nazi elements active in the Maidan coup spawned the Azov and other “punisher” units. With more information surfacing that indicates that the Maidan sniper shootings were a provocation-derived event, the possibility that Svoboda and Pravy Sektor-linked elements could drive developments in the Donbass toward World War III is one that deserves more attention than it will receive.
A frightening development, virtually unreported in the U.S., concerns unilateral moves by the Poroshenko government to move away from the Minsk peace plan and to rebrand the conflict in Eastern Ukraine as “occupation” by an “aggressor” Russia.
This appears to pave the way for a wider, deeper conflict which could, ultimately, draw in the U.S. and NATO: ” . . . . Critics of the U.S. criminal justice system such as Michelle Alexander and Bryan Stevenson have assailed the rise of mass incarceration with its disproportionate impact on people of color. The war on crime that began in the 1970s was supported by many African American leaders in the nation’s urban centers. The first substantial cohort of black mayors, judges, and police chiefs took office amid a surge in crime and drug addiction. Many prominent black officials, including federal prosecutor Eric Holder, feared that the gains of the civil rights movement were being undermined by lawlessness. They thus embraced tough-on-crime measures, including mandatory sentencing and aggressive police tactics and what Angela Davis called, the prison-industrial complex. In the face of skyrocketing murder rates and the proliferation of open-air drug markets, African-American officials and community leaders believed they had no choice. But the policies they adopted would have devastating consequences for residents of poor black neighborhoods.
James Forman Jr. is a Professor of Law at Yale Law School. and was a law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. After clerking, he joined the Public Defender Service in Washington, D.C., where for six years he represented both juveniles and adults charged with crimes. During his time as a public defender, he became frustrated with the lack of education and job training opportunities for his clients. He co-founded the Maya Angelou Public Charter School, an alternative school for school dropouts and youth who had previously been arrested. His articles appear in The New York Times, The Atlantic and other publications. He is the author of Locking Up Our Own: Crime and Punishment in Black America. This program concludes our FTR series on Hindutva fascism (Hindu nationalist fascism). In previous programs, we highlighted key features of the governance of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose BJP is a political front for the RSS. Formed along the lines of Mussolini’s Blackshirts in 1925, the RSS was the organization that assassinated Mahatma Gandhi. 1.–Modi’s political fortunes were boosted with support and apparent financing from Pierre Omidyar, who also helped finance the rise of the OUN/B fascist successor organizatios in Ukraine.
2.–Modi and his BJP are viewed with great favor by Breitbart kingpin, former Trump campaign manager and adviser Steve Bannon. A number of Trump’s business associates in India are associated with the BJP.
3.–Bernie Sanders’ prospective Vice-Presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard helped arrange the details for Modi’s American visit and is networked with the RSS.
4.–The above-mentioned Tulsi Gabbard is a member of the Hare Krishna cult, as is her husband, her in-laws, her parents and her Congressional staff.
5.–Gabbard is highly regarded by Modi admirer Steve Bannon as well.
6.–Gabbard was seriously considered for a cabinet position by Team Trump.
7.–Under Modi, anti-Muslim violence has dramatically accelerated, journalistic and civil free speech has been attenuated, opponents of the government have faced various forms of retaliation and oppression, journalists and activists critical of Modi/BJP/RSS have been murdered, a virulently anti-Muslim cleric has been appointed head of Uttar Pradesh (India’s largest province), voting machines have apparently been tampered with, and Indians have expressed positive feelings about martial law. 'Confessions of a Nuclear War Planner'
Daniel Ellsberg of Pentagon Papers fame has another revelation to make. In 1961 he consulted for the Department of Defense and the White House and drafted Secretary Robert McNamara's plans for nuclear war.
In 1969 Ellsberg copied the top secret documents along with those pertaining to the war on Vietnam. Ellsberg's attempts to publish the nuclear war papers were stymied by the loss of his copies and the refusal by 17 publishers who told him that nobody was interested in a book about nuclear war. The Doomsday Machine was finally published in December 2017.
Now, in the context of Trump's threats to North Korea, the question of what it means for the rest of the world if one or more of todays super powerful nuclear weapons were to be used is rising to top priority. Convincing evidence shows that even a small nuclear exchange will instantly kill millions and a larger exchange would endanger the rest of the hemisphere by nuclear winter.

12:30-1 Daniel Ellsberg "The Doomsday Machine" Part 2 'Confessions of a Nuclear War Planner'
In 1969 Daniel Ellsberg secretly copied the plans for the United States - Vietnam Relations, 1945-1967, later to be published as the Pentagon Papers. What was not known widely until late 2017 is that Ellsberg also copied the top secret plans for nuclear war that he consulted on for the Department of Defense and drafted for Secretary Robert McNamara.
Some of these papers, along with his first person report of the history of nuclear war planning, have now finally been published to high acclaim. The publication comes at an extraordinarily auspicious and dangerous time as nuclear tensions are mounting and the US president is challenging North Korea.
This program begins with two excerpts from the Nobel Awards in Oslo. ICAN, The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, received the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of their efforts "to draw attention to the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of any use of nuclear weapons" and their "ground-breaking efforts to achieve a treaty-based prohibition of such weapons".

Daniel Ellsberg is currently on tour for his most recent book - The Doomsday Machine. 1.-Hare Krishna founder and chief guru Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada provided commentary on Hindu religious text ". . . . and often suggested that they had not actually been written by himself, but that God, Krishna, had revealed them to him. . . ." This was in order to " . . . .underline the absolute position, superhuman qualities, and overall importance of the guru. [Basically, "guru" as "fuhrer"-D.E.] . . . ."
2.-Bhaktivedanta Swami was fundamentally opposed to democracy. "So monarchy or dictatorship is welcome. . . . Personally, I like this position, dictatorship. Personally, I like this."
3.-Bhaktivedanta Swami felt that Hinduism was in a "fallen state" and that only his discipline/teachings could restore it to its proper place. In our discussions with Peter Levenda, we have noted that fascism manifests a longing for a bygone time-one that never really existed.
4.-Fascist philosophies frequently invoke a by-gone, mythical "golden age," which the fascist cadre in question will restore, after the corrupting forces have been neutralized. " . . . . He too believed that in bygone ages a divine and scientific social system had existed in India, and like Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati, he too founded a movement whose express mission was to reestablish what he often referred to as the "perfectional form of human civilization," varnashram dharma. . . ." Note that "foreigners" or what would be termed in our society today "immigrants," "migrants," "Mexicans," or "Muslims" are blamed for this degeneration. " . . . . . . . . Indian civilization on the basis of the four varnas and ashrams deteriorated because of her dependency on foreigners, or those who did not follow the civilization of varnasham. . . ."
5.-Bhaktivedanta Swami valued the traditional position of the Kshatriya warrior caste, to which the Nazi SS considered themselves as successors, according to Kevin Coogan's brilliant analysis (in Dreamer of the Day: Francis Parker Yockey and the Postwar Fascist International.) ". . . . the kshatriyas should be taught how to fight also. There will be military training. There will be training how to kill. Kshatriya students in the ISKCON varnashram college were to practice killing: 'Just like Kshatriyas, they have to learn how to kill.' . . . . There is no single instance where Bhaktivedanta Swami speaks about kshatriya training without mentioning killing. . . . 'Learn to kill. No nonviolence. Learn to kill. Here also, as soon you'll find, the Kshatriya, a thief, a rogue, unwanted element in the society, kill him. That's all. Finish. Kill him. Bas. Finished. . . ." It is not that because the Kshatriyas were killing by bows and arrows formerly you have to continue that. That is another foolishness. If you have got . . . If you can kill easily by guns, take that gun. All the royal princes were trained up how to kill. . . . A Kshatriya, he is expert in the military science, how to kill. So the killing art is there. You cannot make it null and void by advocating nonviolence. No, That is required. Violence is also a part of the society. . . ."

'Confessions of a Nuclear War Planner'
Daniel Ellsberg of Pentagon Papers fame has another revelation to make. In 1961 he consulted for the Department of Defense and the White House and drafted Secretary Robert McNamara's plans for nuclear war.
In 1969 Ellsberg copied the top secret documents along with those pertaining to the war on Vietnam. Ellsberg's attempts to publish the nuclear war papers were stymied by the loss of his copies and the refusal by 17 publishers who told him that nobody was interested in a book about nuclear war. The Doomsday Machine was finally published in December 2017.
Now, in the context of Trump's threats to North Korea, the question of what it means for the rest of the world if one or more of todays super powerful nuclear weapons were to be used is rising to top priority. Convincing evidence shows that even a small nuclear exchange will instantly kill millions and a larger exchange would endanger the rest of the hemisphere by nuclear winter.

In 1969 Daniel Ellsberg secretly copied the plans for the United States - Vietnam Relations, 1945-1967, later to be published as the Pentagon Papers. What was not known widely until late 2017 is that Ellsberg also copied the top secret plans for nuclear war that he consulted on for the Department of Defense and drafted for Secretary Robert McNamara.
Some of these papers, along with his first person report of the history of nuclear war planning, have now finally been published to high acclaim. The publication comes at an extraordinarily auspicious and dangerous time as nuclear tensions are mounting and the US president is challenging North Korea.
This program begins with two excerpts from the Nobel Awards in Oslo. ICAN, The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, received the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of their efforts "to draw attention to the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of any use of nuclear weapons" and their "ground-breaking efforts to achieve a treaty-based prohibition of such weapons".

Dr. Michael Osterholm is a professor and director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota. He is the author of the 2017 book, “Deadliest Enemy: Our War Against Killer Germs” in which he not only details the most pressing infectious disease threats of our day but lays out a nine-point strategy on how to address them, with preventing a global flu pandemic at the top of the list. His recent op-ed in the New York Times is entitled “We’re not Ready For a Flu Pandemic.”

The disturbing facts concerning Mahatma Gandhi's assassination at the hands of the RSS and its ideological leader V.D. Savarkar was related by James Douglass in "Gandhi and the Unspeakable". (Douglass is also the author of JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why It Matters--a book we have used on numerous occasions.)
In this program we set forth key features of the assassination of Gandhi including:
1.-The Hindutva (Hindu nationalist) fascist ideology of the RSS, the organization inspired by, and presided over, by V.D.Savarkar,which--along with its ideological leader--were deeply involved with Gandhi's murder.
2.-The RSS's organizational and ideological affinity with Mussolini's Blackshirts.
3.-The organization's (and Savarkar's) cooperation with the British, whom Savarkar saw as potential partners in an "Aryan Empire."
4.-The close relationship between the RSS and the Hindu Mahasabha, a paramilitary organization that participated in the British colonial military during World War II and subsequently assumed prominence in the fledgling Indian national security establishment.
5.-The laxity of Indian police officials in pursuing an investigation into Gandhi's killers following an earlier attempt at slaying the Mahatma.
6.-The apparent sympathy of complicit Indian security officials, many of whom had affinity with the RSS and Hindu Mahasabha.
7.-The apparent complicity of Indian Prime Minister Nehru and Home Minister Patel in the killings--failing to enact basic, formalized security procedures that would have protected Gandhi.
8.-The complicity of the Indian court trying Gandhi's killers in obscuring the fundamental participation of Savarkar in the assassination conspiracy.
9.-The court's acquiescence in allowing Gandhi's self-confessed assassin Nathuram Godse (Savarkar's personal secretary) to read a nine-hour condemnation of Gandhi and implicit defense of the Mahatma's murder.
10.-The subsequent rehabilitation of Savarkar's political reputation after the BJP (a political cat's paw for the RSS) assumed power in India.
11.-The Orwellian re-write of Indian text books to omit any reference to the Hindutva fascist role in Gandhi's killing.

Richard Wolff, "Cutting Corporate Taxes"
Corporations are riding high in the saddle. With their friends in Washington they are raking it in. That certainly is the case with the tax law passed by Congress in late 2017. If you look at the details it is warmed over trickle-down economics. While most workers will get crumbs, the big winners will be corporations. And along the way, the deficit will go way up. Corporate tax contributions to the federal budget has been declining for decades and this bill will make it worse. The right-wing plan seems clear: Cut taxes on corporations and then reduce and eliminate programs like Social Security, food stamps, Medicare and Medicaid because there is no money. As the saying goes, the rich have gotten richer and the poor poorer. Inequality has soared into the stratosphere. To bring it down we need a concerted grassroots movement.
Richard Wolff is Professor of Economics Emeritus at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and currently a visiting professor at the New School in New York. The New York Times calls him “America’s most prominent Marxist economist.” He is the author of numerous books including 'Democracy at Work' and 'Occupy the Economy' with David Barsamian.

5.-The laxity of Indian police officials in pursuing an investigation into Gandhi's killers following an earlier attempt at slaying the Mahatma.
6.-The apparent sympathy of complicit Indian security officials, many of whom had affinity with the RSS and Hindu Mahasabha.
7.-The apparent complicity of Indian Prime Minister Nehru and Home Minister Patel in the killings--failing to enact basic, formalized security procedures that would have protected Gandhi.
8.-The complicity of the Indian court trying Gandhi's killers in obscuring the fundamental participation of Savarkar in the assassination conspiracy.
9.-The court's acquiescence in allowing Gandhi's self-confessed assassin Nathuram Godse (Savarkar's personal secretary) to read a nine-hour condemnation of Gandhi and implicit defense of the Mahatma's murder.
10.-The subsequent rehabilitation of Savarkar's political reputation after the BJP (a political cat's paw for the RSS) assumed power in India.
11.-The Orwellian re-write of Indian text books to omit any reference to the Hindutva fascist role in Gandhi's killing.

Corporations are riding high in the saddle. With their friends in Washington they are raking it in. That certainly is the case with the tax law passed by Congress in late 2017. If you look at the details it is warmed over trickle-down economics. While most workers will get crumbs, the big winners will be corporations. And along the way, the deficit will go way up. Corporate tax contributions to the federal budget has been declining for decades and this bill will make it worse. The right-wing plan seems clear: Cut taxes on corporations and then reduce and eliminate programs like Social Security, food stamps, Medicare and Medicaid because there is no money. As the saying goes, the rich have gotten richer and the poor poorer. Inequality has soared into the stratosphere. To bring it down we need a concerted grassroots movement.
Richard Wolff is Professor of Economics Emeritus at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and currently a visiting professor at the New School in New York. The New York Times calls him “America’s most prominent Marxist economist.” He is the author of numerous books including 'Democracy at Work' and 'Occupy the Economy' with David Barsamian.
